MS6100 Bench Frequency Counter

Counter was defective out of the box. I called tech support twice; the first time I spent half an hour on the phone and the tech was very friendly but I got the impression he was not as familiar with this product as he should have been, or at the very least he was not well prepared to speak to me. He could not resolve my problem right then but he did give me some ideas to try. The second time I called (after the ideas did not work) I left a voice mail but my call was not returned. I suspected the problem was an internal trigger calibration that I was willing to adjust myself, but since they did not call back I gave up. The front panel controls are not very intuitive and the test cable looks like it came from the dollar store. The manual, such as it is, lacks detail. Not surprisingly, it is obvious that the manual was written by someone who does not speak English very well.I've been an electronics technician for many years and use test instruments every day as part of my job; I should have known better than to buy this thing. I wanted this unit for personal/hobby use and it was a huge mistake. Nothing but issues from beginning to end...and I'm not at the end yet. I'm going to use my professional connections to hook myself up with a nice used counter or spend some real money and get an instrument that actually works. I would not recommend this item to anyone.

Inaccurate. Unstable. Burned out led segments in display. Junk
