DON'T BUY THIS!!
It might be OK if you live on Pitcairn Island and have no other options, but otherwise . . .The instructions tell you to use a big wormscrew hose clamp (not included) to attach the hose to the dryer on one end and the exhaust on the other. They don't include those. Instead they include two formed wire camps which are smaller than they need to be and I had difficulty putting on, necessitating a trip to the store (in this case Home Depot) where a package of two of the wormgear type (which they recommended) cost only $2.78. You'd think they could charge an extra buck or two to include the clamps they tell you to use, that really do work.By the way, the same hose in HD was considerably cheaper - even the10-foot hose was cheaper. This hose's only virtue was that I ordered it with a lint trap so, I thought, I wouldn't have to go to the store. Another plan in the toilet.Their marketing people need to be replaced!

Just What I Needed
I had just moved into this wonderful house, but as much as we love it, it is a "used" home which means that there are a couple of previous owner things that you wished they had done differently. In this case, the dryer vent. I believe that it was moved at some point so that in tead of being directly in back of the dryer, it's on the side of the wall in back of the dryer. Well, the washer and dryer was not included in the purchase so after the new one was delivered, they said that they wouldn't hook up the dryer vent using the previous vent hose. Okay, no big deal, I'll go get one and do it. The old one was flexible PVC and considered a fire hazard for electric dryers anyway. Off to Lowes and $25.00 later, I have a somewhat flexible and very rigid metal vent hose, the only one that they sell. I quickly find that with the dryer outlet and the angle that I must do to get it to the vent is not going to be easy. An hour and some later, it's all attached. I'm not real happy with it and after pushing the dryer back into position and trying to see behind it, I cross my fingers and hope that it works. A month later the hose worked it's way partially off the vent, so I get on Amazon to look for an alternative, I quickly found this option and figure that this is just what I want even though it comes with those spring clamps instead of "real" hose clamps. No matter, I still have the ones from the failed hose. After this arrived, I noticed how flexible it was and how long or how compressed that it could be. It installed easily and the flexibility allowed it to be put on without the weird loop that the rigid one had to have. I ended up using the supplied spring clamps with it also. It's been over a month now with no issues at all. Very good product.

Nice hose, terrible clamps
This dryer hose is just fine, but the clamps that come with it are terrible. Even the directions that come with the hose tell you to buy worm gear clamps, though there is no mention of this in the product description web page. I tried in vain to hold the clamps that came with the hose open wide enough to slip over the opening in the back of the dryer, bruising my thumb painfully in the process. Finally my husband was able to get it on with much angst in the process. When comparing prices, best to add the cost of quality clamps to this one.

Flimsy fire hazard
This product shouldn't even be used on a dryer. When I got down to install it, there was a warning sticker saying not to use plastic or foil vents as they are a fire hazard. I found videos on YouTube which showed this sort of hose being burned up easily with just a cigarette lighter. The man making the videos installs dryers for a living and said that lint collects in the ridges of these ducts and over time this contributes to the possibility of a fire.Further, the hose comes with two tension clamps. However, the instructions say not to use the tension clamps but to use a worm drive clamp (not included) instead.I returned this ridiculous item and will be getting a semi-flexible metal dryer hose instead.

Works for Me
I'm not sure that you can get an 8' stretch out of this hose. When I initially took it out of the package I could only get it to stretch 4 1/2 feet without forcing extra footage. I finally did get it to stretch close to 7' but it wants to snap back a bit unless I tightly close the window on it (afraid it's gonna tear in that area). It may loosen up after being used for a while. After I stopped laughing at the ridiculous clamps that came with this vent hose I used the two clamps I purchased when I purchased the hose. I purchased two Whirlpool clamps at amazon but received two Maytag clamps. Makes no difference, they look the same. The hose seems to work fine but you have to be careful handling the ends of the hose because the slinky type wire easily pulls away from the aluminum wrap. Seems pretty sturdy otherwise.

As Advertised. Nothing to Complain About.
Use it for ventilation. It's the standard size dryer vent hose, 4". Clamps fit tightly.
