Q: can this be used with another 4 valve setup to increase the whole system to 10 zones ?

Sure, the whole system is threaded fittings and shipped as individual parts. Once you receive it you have to put it together so is you just add another 4 electric values to the main water feed, installing a 1" cap on the water main pipe after your 10th valve, all done. I would also bet if you contacted te seller, they would sell you everything you need for the 10 valve system, with a small increase in price for the extra parts.

Q: According to the rainbird web site, the dvf valves are not recommended for two wire control systems. any thoughts?

You have a 12 wire system If you wire each valve separate If valves were wired in parallel you would have a 2 wire system

Q: Are the connectors threaded, male or female, or slip joints?

Yes. 6 at top of image are 1" PVC slip joints. Other joints are male and female threaded connections with o-rings for seals.I chose to install 1" male thread to 1" hose barb or 1" male thread to 3/4" hose barb instead of the PVC joints at top.

Q: How far apart in inches is each valve line?

just got mine in the mail. measured from center of connection to center of connection it is 3 3/4 inches. hoped that helps.
