Adorable, Engaging & Fun
"The Sandman" is one of those adorable children's stories that manages to capture you attention (whether you're young or old) and weaves a tale of adventure and delight around the reader. Andrew McLeish does a wonderful job of keeping the story refreshing light, bouncy, vividly engaging and entertaining from start to finish. It's innocent and pure fun, putting a smile on your face as William and his sister take a journey with the Sandman when sleep becomes an elusive thing for the boy. The well-written story is lush and vibrant with just the right amount of charming storytelling with a quirky tone to make it a true pleasure to read.

A Fantastical Adventure
The Sandman has great characters and places. Via Nodpath, William reaches the Land of Nod inhabited by the monster sleep destroyer, The Gettup. Helped by his sister Sophie and aptly named Sandmen like Sleepyhead, Catnap, and Shuteye they launch Operation Undercracker; which involves the secret weapon of a pair of giant underpants. The Sandman is funny, with good characters and the dialogue is great. The illustrations are good too. A most enjoyable read, even for an adult.
