Please read before you order this battery!
My HD dealer had a "sale" on HD brand batteries for only $169, so I ordered this one for $111. It works perfectly, but there are a few things you must understand. The battery ships without any acid or liquid of any kind in it. The acid is shipped in the same box, but in a special plastic multi-tube container. You must line up the sealed container with the openings in the battery and actually "push down" to break the plastic seals while the plastic tips are inserted into the battery. It is very easy. I did not spill a drop. Just don't rush it, as it takes approximately 10 or 15 minutes for all the acid to drain into the battery.DO NOT PUT THE CAP ON THE BATTERY AFTER INSTALLING THE ACID! You will need to charge the battery for about 8-12 hours at 3 amps with the vent caps off. I borrowed a charger from a friend. Make sure it is a trickle charge. Do not charge with jumper cables! After charging and before capping the battery, test the battery with a voltmeter. It should be at least 12v minimum. If it is not fully charged, continue charging. It is very difficult to remove the vent caps once they are on.At first glimpse, it seems as though the position of the mounting terminals will necessitate bending the tabs on the cables 90 degrees. I think DIRTYDUCK writes about this in his review. I thought I was going to have to do this too. Read on!Look at the photo of the battery terminals. They are rectangular and hollow. Four nuts ship with the battery and you must use all four nuts! After you get the battery placed onto the battery tray, place the smaller square nuts INSIDE the terminals and use the larger nuts on the outside face of the terminals. The screws provided will first go through your battery cable loop, then the large nut, then the battery terminal and into the small square threaded nut where it will tighten up nicely. See attached photo.I've had the battery for a few months now and absolutely no problems with it.

Poor quality battery
Two of these batteries and neither lasted more than 12 months in my Argo.

A high quality battery for a good price
I ordered this as a replacement battery for a Polaris Ranger 500 UTV. It is the maintenace-free version of the YB30L-B that came in the machine new. The original battery had seen 3 yrs of extreme use in a special application - heavy discharging and recharging. Recently I discovered the original battery had gone dry due to recharging it at too high a rate for too long. Expecting that the battery would have to be replaced, I ordered this as a replacement. In the mean time, I filled the old battery with distilled water and charged it. It is now back in the machine and has worked well for the last 6 weeks.I have the new YIX30L-BS battery on the shelf to install when needed. The great thing about these batteries is they come "dry-charged" and can sit on the shelf until needed. It comes with a container of electrolyte that can be used to fill the battery when ready for use.As a service tech for over 30 yrs and with my own vehicles, I have found Yuasa batteries to be worth the slightly higher price.I have had good

Isn't a perfect fit in '09 Road King
The good: 1.The shipping was fast. 2. I also like that I could easily add the acid and charge to have a fresh battery. 3. When charged (after resting for a day) showed over 13.0V.The not-so-good: 1.The battery case says "Made in USA", but the acid pack, pack box and acid instructions come from China. 2. The instructions are a little vague for sealing before or after the charge (I could hear the acid gurgling during the charge, so I think you would want the caps off until after the initial charge). 3. The battery case printing/lettering paint was smeared and not exactly the same as shown in the image (although the model no. is the same and it was made in USA) which shows sloppy workmanship. The bad: 1. The case is a bit smaller than the OE battery, which will allow a little movement. 2. The terminals have loose rectangular nuts that are a bit of a pain that you shouldn't have to deal with. 3. The vertical terminal holes sit back about 1/8" too far from the front of the battery face, so I had to bend my 90* cable terminals to fit.Overall impressions: I paid more for this battery than a Deka (or Big Crank) because my OE lasted only 4 yrs. (H-D batteries are made by Deka) and I had past positive experience w/ Yuasa, and also it was made in USA. I guess that by making a battery to fit a lot of different models, Yuasa YIXL30-BS fits nothing really well, at least not my Road King. Time will tell about the performance, and if this unit goes 6+ yrs., I'll recommend it (fussy terminal nuts and all). But just on the initial inspection and installation, I'd recommend the Deka (Big Crank), save $10, save some installation frustration, and get more American (or less Chinese) content.
