Works great but hdmi cable was bad
Seems to work great now! We had an issue with the screen going black for a few seconds then coming back on and this would happen every couple minutes which was frustrating for my so. When he was in a fortnite battle. We were able to narrow it down to the hdmi cable we received with this being bad. It cause a lot of frustration but overall is good quality device once we swapped out the hdmi cable.

Very nice
Excellently I like:Standalone, no PC required, Great Quality RecordingsNo HDCP Issues, it records EVERYTHING!One Button Recording/StopAuto Input SelectionIndicator Light Tells exactly what it’s doingZero Latency Throughput for recording game player. This is a standalone HDMI video recorder, no computer is required to make good quality video recordings, it records direct to any USB storage device (memory stick, hard drive etc), maximum usb storage size is 2TB, and it also has a slot for a micro sd card, maximum card size is 32GB.I tested it with my Xbox to see if there was any lag and i am happy to report i experienced zero latency from HDMI Input to HDMI output so that makes it great for recording any gameplay without needing special cables.I understand it can accept signals up to 4k resolution inputs but as it records in 1080p or 720P i have not tested this.As well as accepting high definition HDMI signals it can also interface with the olden days using the supplied AV input cable, so this means all those old VHS tapes can be preserved for a few more years by playing them into this box and hitting the record button. I’m a very happy owner of this unit, get one!

It works - but not exactly as described
This device does record video with fairly decent quality but it does not appear to work as easily as in the description. First off, it does require an ac adapter (included) to power the device. Second, if you want to record video that uses HDCP you will need to use a 2 port splitter with one connection to a TV hdmi port and the other port to the video capture input otherwise you will receive the HDCP warning notice and nothing will record. It does record at either 720 or 1080P but it does not upscale. The files created are in an MP4 format. The HD capture quality is fairly decent but it does require a USB flash drive or an external hard drive with it's own power source. The captured video files have a 2GB size limit which is about 15 minutes of recording, longer recordings are automatically created in 2GB segments. For example, a 90 minute recording will be in 5 segments with a total size of 9.5GB. no video editing software is included and without a program such as mp4joiner you will need to watch 5 individual files to view the entire recording.Another reviewer mentioned that the device he received had a micro sd card slot and that it had av input ports, the device I received had none of these options.Update 12/28/18After working with the device a little more I have discovered that you do not really need the splitter to capture hdcp content. The work-around is to hold the power button in for 10 seconds or so and the hdcp protection screen will disappear and the recorder will now record the content. It does record 1280X720 at 60 fps, I haven't tried the 1920 capture. Also, it appears that DigitNow has done some editing to their product description since my original review, they no longer refer to av inputs or usb capture.

DigitNow
This item work very well on PS4, or devices that has HDMI ports, otherwise you can’t use it. Overall, the videos get recorded very well, and the audio is also very well, you might experiment some copyright issues, but you can hold button in order to override that copyright, it is a recommended item! Easy, plug and play.

video capture works great. mic jack not at all
The video capture is very easy to set up and use. But the microphone jack on it does not work. I went through two separate devices (i emailed digitnow and they were very nice and assured me that the device was just defective and i then replaced it and same issue. The microphone recording is extremely quiet when playing the video back. only when the actual video has zero sound can you hear the microphone at all. Most devices more expensive then this dont offer the mic at all so for the price it is still a great device but i wanted for my kid to be able to record videos of him playing mario games with the microphone and it can not be used for that. Do NOT anticipate using the mic input if you buy this.

Perfect Christmas present
Bought this for my son for Xbox gaming he loves it. He has a friend who has a more expensive version. And they tellMe this one is just as good. I read reviews all over the internet and debated over several different ones. Glad I made this purchase.
