Excellent
This was purchased for Christmas as a family project. It was not difficult to fold the paper for an adult. A child (under 11 or so) may have a difficult time and need some help. Some patterns can be intricate, so children will not be able to use the thick scissors. You have to use fine scissors. The patterns are great, but there aren't a lot of them. Maybe 15 or so. I have copied them to reuse them. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there weren't may patterns. If there were more, I would have definitely given this book a 5! I have truly enjoyed this activity.

They have six points!
For years I have been cutting out paper snowflakes to stick on the windows. I thought I was pretty good at it, but I never realized that they were not snowflakes - they had 4 or 8 points! Snowflakes always have SIX points! But how to fold paper to get six points? This book not only teaches how to do that, it provides actual patterns, some with clever images like angels and snowmen. Rather than tear out the pages and cut them up, I want to save the book for coming winters, so I photocopied some of the patters. Next year ALL my snowflakes will have SIX points!

Snowflakes Puts Kids on Cloud Nine
I took this to my granddaughters, then ages 5 and 7, a year ago and they couldn't stop snipping! The windows were white with beautiful snowflakes. I'm sending another one next month. Even if it's the same book, they won't remember it and will looooove doing it again. Looking forward to Book 2!Glad this is on Amazon, as I can't remember where I bought the first copy.

Lots and lots of fun!
I highly recommend this book. I'm a kid at heart and I always wanted to make a paper snowflake. This is a great book, very easy yet beautiful snowflakes. My kids love it and so do I. Get a good pair of sissors that are sharp all the way to the tip (available at craft stores) and go for it. Lots of fun.

excellent craft for the winter
My family spend Christmas on vacation and took this book along to help us decorate the tree with snaowflakes. So much and festive, we ordered several more books to give to friends as a family gift. Very fun and beautiful!

Beautiful snowflakes with a few snips!
I bought this book as a boredom buster for my kids, ages 8 and 6. It was perhaps a little too detailed for my 6 year old,(lots of tiny cuts that need pretty sharp scissors) but my 8 year old had few problems! Interestingly enough, it was myself and another pre-school teacher friend who had the best time working with this book. We copied the patterns so as not to destroy the originals in the book, and we commenced cutting! Needless to say, our winter bulletin board has the most beautiful snowflakes ever! I would say the book is best for the 10 and up crowd. It would make a great Sunday School craft/lesson, or 4th - 5th grade project. It is a teachers' best friend! Especially in conjunction with the book Snowflake Bentley. I will pull it out much earlier this winter, so we can have beautiful snowflakes adorning our windows in December. Our favorites- the ballerinas, the birds, and my 8 year old son loves the spiderweb snowflake!

Fun project
Really neat snowflakes to cut out but not for very young children. They take a lot of time and patience. If your child is really into sitting for a long period of time and slowly cutting tiny little sections of folded paper away, then this is the book for them. Every child is different so I won't suggest a specific age range. It really boils down to your childs interest and temperment. I will say it does require very sharp scissors. But nevertheless, a very fun project.

No two alike
There are several snowflake books out there, but I think this one definitely stands out from the rest. Especially appealing about these designs is the fact that most have a recognizable theme (like snowmen, or angels, or birds, etc.) and, like real snowflakes, no two are alike.
