History and anatomy of the first tank of World War One
Great book covering the subject of the First World War invention of the original armored tank. Decent details from especially British view and great interior details photos from the existing models in the British War Museum. This is the only way most of us will ever see the interior of one of these historic fighting vehicles. However I wish some variations built by United States in WW 1 could have been detailed plus the use of hermaphrodite versions (Cannon/MG one side and 2x MG other side) by the Russian White army during the revolution. Some additional details like of various odd ball uses would have been great too. There was one used at the British proving grounds for weight proving out the original design of the World War Two Bailey Bridge by driving the Female (MGs only) WW1 tank onto the prototype bridge suspended only 3' up off ground and then driving an additional WW2 British light tank up onto the top treads of the Female tank to end up with stacked tanks looking like a mother monkey carrying her baby on her back.

Great book!
David Fletcher is probably the one person on the planet that can write this book with such authority. He does a very good job presenting what it would be like to operate this tank. There is a lot we don't know about these tanks but Mr. Fletcher is very honest on this and bases everything on what facts are available. Great book not only for someone interested in these early tanks but a must if you are working on a model.

Excellent Book
This book is an excellent look at the development of the first tanks in World War One, with particular reference to a restored Mark IV tank owned by the Tank Museum in the United Kingdom. The book is filled with illustrations and large photos of the preserved Mark IV tank with associated descriptions about its development, motive power, armour, armament and what it was like to drive and work in such a vehicle.Highly recommended.

Loved this book
Loved this book, so much detail and historical information. The abundance of schematics makes this even better, considering i had originally bought this as reference for making a scale model. looking forward to the book over the RR armored car coming out in march!
