Very nice camera for learning
Very nice camera for learning, awesome quality for the price range. The battery charger included didn't work at all, so that was disappointing but honestly I want sure if it would come with a battery or charger at all so I was kinda expecting to have to get one anyway. A quick Google search on the charger revealed in not the only one with this problem. Other than that little negative bit I can't put the camera down. Like I said I wasn't even expecting a battery or charger so I'll still give this 5 stars. I've only used my own separate lenses, so I don't have anything to day about the included lens.

A very strong first DSLR but not absolutely perfect.
Title:~A very strong first DSLR but not absolutely perfect.Body:~I received this camera three days ago and I've been playing with the camera non-stop. While I'm not a novice to either SLR photography or Nikon cameras, I found the camera to be a great balance of performance of ease of use. With this model, my previous knowledge of photography really was helpful to achieve the image I want. The manual control features are great and the scene settings are very helpful, but I find the auto mode of the camera to be completely useless. I've tried it time and time again only to find that the shot is either incorrectly exposed or too blurry. To guarantee the perfect shot I often find myself using the pet scene mode most often w/ the flash disabled. Most importantly, the images I'm taking are significantly improved over my previous digital camera (mainly my iPhone). That being said, this is a $450 DSLR and it's more than getting the job done.Pros:~final image quality~scene modes~priceCons:~auto mode~flashWould I recommend this product?~Yes!

My camera arrived on time even ahead of shedule, unfortunitly when I turned it on I discovered the live view was not working properly the picture had lines through it like a bad cable connection. Also when I tried to take pictures it would take several seconds or not even take the picture at all. I was very surprised by this as this is a very expensive top of the line DSLR and pictures should not be delayed.

Quality images but uncomfortable
Great quality images but super awkward to hold. I think that's ultimately why this body was discontinued.

A+++ seller
I am not a professional photographer (yet) and I have a lot to learn but I am happy to be learning with this DSLR. Takes wonderful photos and has the ability to be upgraded easily with the purchase of new glass (lenses). Product arrived a day earlier than expected arrival date. Would recommend this seller to anyone.

The camera was fine. It only had 1090 shutter counts
The camera was fine. It only had 1090 shutter counts. Practically new. But the battery only last about 150 shots. I read it should last 500 shots. So I don't know if the money I saved is worth the added cost of spare battery I have to buy. Refurbished did NOT come with original box, nor any printed instructions. After I bought it, I've found NEW d5200 only about $20 more so... I might have made a bad deal on good camera. Good camera, but bad deal.As for the D5200 in general, it's very good as advanced amateur. I already own d70 (now dead) and d90. I bought this so I can teach photography to my friend's daughter. While they removed the second job dial, it's still relatively easy to get to most used shutter, aperture, ISO when in manual mode. What they crumpled are :(1) no built in motor to focus using old lens(2) cannot be used as advanced external flash master(3) cannot go past 1/200 for flash sync.(4) small battery = terrible for long trip or shoots(5) cannot review images while the images are being written to the memory card. For multiple raw images, this time will seem forever.But I don't think most of these are problems to beginners / advanced beginners.

I purchased this camera for my girlfriend, and she loves it. She is just beginning her journey into the world of photography and I've read that this is a great camera to start off with. There are plenty of features, enough for the amateur photographer. I am happy with my purchase!

The camera made the sounds like it was taking a picture but I could not ...
Either the battery would not charge or the charger did not work, but I had to buy a new battery. Then with the new battery the monitor never worked, The camera made the sounds like it was taking a picture but I could not get the monitor to turn on to review them. Amazon was helpful with the return process but you just can't trust "certified refurbished" items.
