Works GREAT!
I purchased this for my CO2 laser, which uses a steady water-flow to keep the laser tube cool. After moving to my new facility, I plugged everything in and noticed there was scale and particles floating inside my $1000+ laser tube. It was cool, since it was evidence that water was actually circulating but floaties inside expensive equipment is just wrong.Once I connected the filter (and cartridge, sold separately), within 5 minutes (less actually), the water inside the laser tube was crystal clear and the black floaties where hugging the cartridge. Will I be tasting the quality of this water? No, but it definitely is an improvement for my application.A side note, anyone installing a water filtration system should understand about water quality before jumping in. There is a ton of online literature but understand it before installing. For instance, filtering water can become corrosive. Unfiltered water can cause scale in delicate equipment like espresso machines and tea brewers.

Very sturdy, looks great, but use caution with plastic fittings...
This has a smaller fitting size than I wanted, so not in use yet. But, I also have the larger fitting size that I am using. The quality of both is identical. The price was too cheap to bother with a return. Eventually it will go into service. One caution, the 1/2 inch (I think) fitting size one needs lots of tape to seal if plastic fittings are used. I fixed a leak with super glue after allowing the fitting to dry. I did not remove it first. Plumbers putty might be better than Teflon tape. You could also put an oring before the fitting.

Good quality
This filter housing worked well for my old reverse osmosis system. I needed a new housing for the charcoal cartridge. The only problem is the release valve on top of the housing lid. I cannot mount the housing on the bracket as you can see in the photo because the release valve is in the way.

This works great under kitchen counter as additional filtration for small spigot ...
1/4" to 1/4" was surprisingly hard to find that would ship to my location. This works great under kitchen counter as additional filtration for small spigot to use as drinking water. Easy to install, leaked at first, then I wrapped connector pieces with teflon tape and no leaks since. Have been using for 1 year, have changed the filter twice without problem.

Include Mounting Bracket PLEASE
There were multiple warnings that the outside of this product shouldn't be scratched or otherwise damaged, but it's been impossible to find a suitable mounting bracket. Considering the time I've wasted trying, I very much wish they charged an extra $10-15 and included the correct mounting bracket. At least include a link to the correct bracket in the item description, this is ridiculous.I purchased two mounting brackets on Amazon that are supposed to fit this model, but don't. I tried to find one at Lowes and Menards, but they didn't have one either. I'm beginning to regret this purchase even though the filter itself works great. The pressure relief value squirts water everywhere, but it works too.

Great filter housing for filtering beer
I use this to filter beer along with the 30 micron filter and it works perfectly via gravity alone. I actually hook it up to the bottom of my conical and just open it up slowly. The beer flows smoothly into my kegs or I can bottle straight from it. The 30 Micron filter leaves enough yeast where I can still bottle condition if I want to and its washable. I highly recommend this product

Leaks due to manufacturing quality issues
I almost never write negative reviews. Though, being this product has 4 and ½ stars after 57 other reviews, it is possible that my experience is due to receiving a bad batch. I purchased 3 of these Pentek Slim Line Clear filter housings to setup a plumbed in espresso machine. I carefully followed the enclosed directions and removed the O rings and cleaned the housings. I noticed that the O rings ship pre-lubricated. None the less, I added even more PTFE impregnated FDA approved synthetic grease just to be sure. As the instructions state, I carefully seated the O rings and hand-tightened the housing. Pressurized with water and all 3 canisters immediately leaked past the O rings and out the threads. I thought perhaps “hand tight” is subjective and I depressurized and used a housing wrench to tighten them up. The leaking seemed to have stopped, so I gave it a few hours. When I returned to check it, I found about a cup of water all over my floor.I have installed and owned three other water filter systems and never had this issue with any of my canisters. Thus, I pulled them apart to inspect closer. Running my finger over the housing lid that presses to the O ring revealed the problem: the housing caps have a significant amount of flashing from the manufacturing process sticking up and pressing into the O ring. See the two pictures attached to see for yourself. This flashing was clearly pressing in the O ring and preventing a proper seal. To address the issue, I used a razor knife to trim the flashing. See the 3rd pic to see how much came off in just one pass. Then, I finish sanded the trimmed area with 400 grit sandpaper. Finally, I lubed the heck out of the O rings and carefully seated them, applying even more grease once the rings were in the channel. Finally, as a safety measure, I wrapped Teflon tape around the threads three complete passes. Note: Teflon tape should not be required as the O ring should make a complete seal. After all that work to try and cleanup the poor manufacturing QA, I put the whole rig back together and pressured it up. After a few more hours I returned to find a lot less leakage, but no leakage at all is acceptable. I finally got so frustrated that I used pipe dope to seal the canisters until I can get replacement canisters ordered from another brand. I just cannot take the risk of developing mold or or property damage problem due to saving a few bucks. After reading more of the comments, I noticed a number of other people mention that these leak and seem to still rate them 4 or 5 stars. So, if having a completely water tight housing is a requirement, look at another product. Though, if slow leakage is ok for this price, then well, now there is at least one more opinion out there for the knowledge pool.Update: The pipe dope did not work and the leak came back anyway. The O rings just cannot seat against the cap and the canister threads are not meant to be water tight. I have now disconnected the filter completely and await replacements to arrive.
