Check your brakes
40 cm is a lot shorter than I thought it was, but it's a sufficient length for me.I haven't ridden with them extensively, but they appear to be solid bars.I'm a complete noob with cycling parts and such, so trying figure out if my brakes were compatible was a real pain. Let me tell you what I have learned in hopes that no one else will have to suffer like me. The standard brakes levers/bars are generally 22.2 mm outside diameter. By standard I mean BMX bikes or mountain bike bars-- the riser bars (i.e. the flat ones). So if you were hoping to use the same brake lever from that was on a riser bar (as I was), you're probably out of luck. A lot of road bike stuff is 23.8 mm, such as this bar, but there are some 22.2 mm ones as well (e.g. pure fix). I thought I could force on the 22.2mm brakes, it's only a mm after all, but it can't be done. Especially in the case with the kind that you have to slide over the whole bar rather than just clamp on. There's hardly any 23.8mm standard brake lever sets (i.e. a pair); though, there are many single lever sets (for the front brake). There is a velo orange one, and another cheap plastic one. I purchased the velo orange ones, and they indeed fit, but they are rather long, so it's awkward to mount in the middle. I ended up mounting them under the bar along the flat parts that are parallel to the wheel. It's still sort of strange, but it works. It might of been better to get bar end brakes as others have done for which there is a great abundance of options. In conclusion, this bar is a great price, but if you were thinking of putting on brakes be wary. If you have a 23.8mm brake set or some bar end brakes, then you're fine. If you have a 22.2mm brake set, it might be more cost effective to simply go with a more expensive 22.2mm pursuit bar instead of getting this and having to buy new brakes as well. Finally, if you don't use brakes, then this is a great bar for a cheap price.

Great addition to most bikes not mine
I put these on a cruiser bike because I hated those cruiser handlebars. It looks real nice now, but the long frame puts the bars further away. It is okay for me as I can reach them perfectly, but if I was a little shorter I would have problems. These bars are stylish and function very well. They are really light so my bike is slightly lighter which is good for speed. While riding these bars make you tuck in so it makes you more aerodynamic. Now any strong biker has probably already guessed by now that cruisers are not built for speed. They are clumsy bikes. I have had some nasty falls and have decided to get a mountain bike. Hopefully I can find one to match these bars. I've turn my slow cruiser into a competition road bike and it is highly dangerous. When I got it I didn't know I would want to fly around town on it, so I chose a slow bike. I would not recommend these bars for a cruiser bike, but most other bikes will be improve by this handlebar. Ride safely and look out for me I can't stop this thing.

Lightweight, Faster turns
These are super light bars. They have a nice drop and plenty of forward length to stretch out when you're blasting. On the front, they have the Project Fixie logo in white that is offset to the left, which is basically covered up by my front brake lever. They definitely make my bike turn faster than regular bullhorns. Very good and a great price.

For the price, it's a great bar
The bars arrived scratched up on the ends of the bars, but since I was installing brake levers on the ends of the bars, it wasn't an issue for me. One review mentioned that his bar didn't have an internal diameter of 19mm, but my levers, which required 19mm, fit inside with room to spare. The bar is a tad bit heavier than I hoped for, but for the price, I think this is an excellent value. I also drilled two holes in the bottom center to route my internal brake cables. I've been on a couple of rides and the bar is solid.

Decent Handlebars, Smaller Internal Diameter than Advertised
If you just need a set of handlebars for casual riding, not particularly fast or demanding, these will fit the bill. However, when using these on my commuter to and from school, I've noticed a few things about these bars. The first is that they have a good bit of flex, if you really start to pedal hard and put force on them you can feel them bending a bit. This doesn't seem to be dangerous, I have been riding on them for months now with nothing going wrong. The other issue arose when I attempted to install a set of Tektro reverse brake levers which are supposed to be inserted into the ends of the bars. It is important to be aware that these particular bullhorn bars have a smaller internal diameter than in the writeup, and it took a great deal of effort and modification to get the levers working as a result of this.Overall, if you just need a low cost pair of basic performance handlebars, these will fit the bill as long as you are using a standard brake lever.

Excellent, except for one small problem.
Love these bars! Look great, great quality. However, the anodizing process makes them slightly thicker. .I have busted two sets of standard brake levers (plastic clamp, then alloy clamp) trying to install them on these bars. :( Bike shops were mystified by this. I think the answer is cyclocross brake levers, but what a pain! So, 4 stars.

Good bars for the money.
Just got these bars today (ordered on 2/6/15) and they're exactly as advertised. Surprisingly light for the price.Word of caution: if you plan on using the Tektro RX 4.1 reverse levers with these you're going to have to grind out the ends of the bars a little with a Dremel tool or a file. They were just a wee bit narrow and didn't want to fit. They get 4 stars instead of 5 because of that. Otherwise I'm totally satisfied.
