Since its foundation in 1930, CITIZEN has promoted a multi-cultural mindset that fosters excellence and creativity. The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world-over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring. As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities. One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch. The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy.

Nice watch! But a word about band adjustments
OK, I just got the watch today, so I can't speak to durability. But there are some things to consider if you're thinking about this watch.First, the Amazon description shows the watch as being water resistant to 99 feet. The actual information packaged with the watch, is clear that the watch is merely water resistant to 3 atmospheres, which permits minor exposure such as you'd encounter in the rain or when washing face or hands. It is definitely NOT for use while swimming, showering, etc. I'd like to see this corrected in the description.Second, in other reviews of other Citizen watches, I've read about people adjusting the bracelet and being unable to keep the pins in place. This is how it works:1. I definitely recommend purchasing one of the bracelet adjustment tools listed on Amazon. For $6 I got a "heavy duty" one that, while definitely not heavy duty, was adequate to the task of adjusting my bracelet.2. Pay attention to the little arrows on the inside of the bracelet when you push the pins out with the tool. You'll push the pins about 1/4 inch out, then pull them the rest of the way with a pair of pliers. I used my Leatherman tool quite successfully for this.3. When you pull out the pins, be on the lookout for tiny little metal "sleeves" less than 1/4 inch long that will fall out of the links. These are important. You may want to spread a white cloth or some paper, and work over that surface so you can find anything that falls out. Cloth may be best because it will discourage bouncing (which will have you on the floor with a flashlight while your coworkers wonder what you're doing under your desk).4. When re-assembling the bracelet, hold the little sleeve thingie with your needle-nose pliers and slip it into one of the holes on the "2-prong" side of the link. It will slip easily into one, and won't go into the other at all.5. Slip the sleeve into the prong that will accept it, keep the link upright so the sleeve doesn't fall out, line up the links, and slip the pin into the link. It will go a short way in, then you'll need to tap it gently (I used the pliers hinge on my Leatherman). I tapped it in a little ways, then, when I got nervous about marring the link if I got too close, I turned it over and pressed the pin in the rest of the way by pushing it down on my desk.6. Finally, when the pin was flush, I used the bracelet adjustment tool again to push the pin in just a little further so it is the same depth as the other pins.7. Now the pins won't fall out, and your watch won't fall onto the sidewalk or into a puddle of water where it will demonstrate just how water resistant it really is.I'll update my review if it turns out I don't like the watch after all. I'm taking away one star because Amazon got the description wrong, even though the Citizenwatch website got it right.5-year update: still loving the watch. I'm not particularly hard on my watch. But after 5 years, this watch looks practically new. The crystal is still free from scratches, no issues with water resistance, and no physical failures. The watch is dead-on accurate over time, and has required absolutely zero maintenance. And I still get admiring comments about the watch. All in all, the watch has been an absolute bargain in terms of quality and durability, and hits my style preference for a masculine watch that isn't overstated. Also, I'm bumping my rating to 5 stars. I just noticed that amazon has changed the description to reflect water resistance information on the citizen website.13 year update: Not that anyone cares, as this watch is no longer available. I stopped wearing this watch daily about 5 years ago. LIfestyle changes motivated me to change to a Fitbit, which gave way to no watch at all as I changed to a work-from-home lifestyle and have a clock on my computer screen. But I've kept the watch and worn it from time to time. Still virtually like new (I'm easy on my watches), still accurate, and when I expose it to daylight it starts running in less than a minute and keeps running with no apparent loss of accuracy. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the watch. It has served me well for over a decade, and I expect it will continue for the foreseeable future.

I wish it had a sapphire display
I purchased as a replacement for my stainless Eco-Drive I've had for over 13 years. I really don't miss the day display but I was hoping to get a sapphire crystal. Nope. It would have five stars of it had a sapphire crystal. The unit is svelte and does look good in a board room like the Citizen ad says. And it is lighter than my old stainless watch (not by much), a couple of ounces.Seems one can get sapphire only in larger Ti Eco-drives. I prefer the smaller display. The crystal is 29mm wide/diameter; the case is 38mm wide/diameter. My wrist is small so I had a watch smith take out two links for $20.

Citizen titanium and solar watch
I've had this watch for several months now, long enough to be confident with it's abilities. First, I really like the way it fits and how the band clasp works. Second, it is a thing of beauty. The silver and black face goes well with the titanium color. It is very slim and the band was easy to adjust to my wrist size. Your not going to want to use this as a rough work watch. Third, and most important to me, is it keeps perfect time. I also have an atomic Casio watch, and I have been comparing them to test the Citizen. So far they stay right together. I leave it in a window when not wearing it, and never need to worry about a battery. I could not be more pleased with a wrist watch.

Watch band broke, Citizen won't fix it, not covered by warranty.
I purchased this watch because it looked nice and seemed like it should be reliable. I do not have complaints about its appearance though the band scratched very easily, however when pins fell out of the band where they should not and then the band fell apart within 8 month after purchasing it I was a bit disappointed. I sent the watch back to Citizen's repair center assuming this defect would be covered by the warranty. They now say they will will fix it for 150$. They claim that only the bits inside the case are covered by their warranty, which I find to be truly absurd. The pins in the bracelet that broke are not designed to be removable and should most certainly be covered by the warranty. A local jeweler I took the watch to for fixing assured my that this should be covered by the warranty and told me to return it to citizen for fixing. The jeweler recognized that the way the bracelet had broken was due to manufacturing defects, not wear and tear.I now see that the warranty specifically excludes coverage of manufacturing or workmanship defects concerning "the power cell, case and it's components [including the crystal, stem and crown], bracelet and its components [including clasp, links, pins, screws], strap and its components or any accessories".I think this is BS and urge you not to purchase Citizen's products. They are bad and do not stand by their own workmanship.

Very nice watch
This is my second titanium Citizen watch. The first one is 22 years old and is still working. This watch can be used as an everyday or as a dress watch and it looks great. It's very light and not too big compared to today's watches. You need to charge this watch for at least a day (I placed mine under the night lamp or you can put it by the window). Once charged it'll work fine as long as you expose it to some light source for at least 15 min a day (just normal wear). The only con is that the watch is not extremely accurate- it runs too fast (about 5 sec in 3 weeks). Otherwise a perfect watch.

Citizen Men's Eco Drive Titanium Watch
Purchased this less than a month ago. After two to three days of very minimal wear around the office only, treating with great care, noticed scratches all over the band. Contacted company who said that is normal if the band comes into contact with any surface. IE: wood desk, as in sitting at desk looking at computer and reading papers.Company wouldn't even discuss the issue further.

Love this watch!
Very classy looking. Light weight and the face is not thick so it really looks streamlined when it is on. Bought one for my son a couple of years ago and he loved it so much that I bought one for my husbands birthday... now he loves it too.

Very good, quality product
Very good, quality product. The clasp is easy to handle and locks the bracelet perfectly. It was easy to set the time and date, after all it works properly. I've bought a watch tool kit as well as my wrist is not so thick. After the removal of 4 links, it fits wonderful and very comfortable to wear. It's looking smart with a pleasant grey colour and not robust at all but masculin. I'm lovin' it!UPDATE:I broke a tiny ear of the clasp off, and sent the watch to the service. They are amazing and reliable. Not just very quick, but I also received around four emails through the stages of the service so I knew exactly where we are at the moment. I got my watch back today and it is perfect.

beautiful watch to replace my Titanium blue face that was ...
beautiful watch to replace my Titanium blue face that was either lost or stolen. This watch is sleek and light and had to have two links removed (couldn't do it myself). Good value for the dollar.

Perfect for Me.
As a woman, I bought this man's watch for myself. I had got to the stage where I needed to find my reading glasses before I could see the time on most ladies watches. This watch has a big clear face that I can see even in the dark as the hands are luminous. The case is neat, flat to the wrist, and smooth, and the 'winder' - [it doesn't need winding as it is light driven] is recessed into the casing and does not catch on clothing. These are the practical things. This is a very attractive watch with the two-tone titanium and stainless steel looking neat and 'classey'The bracelet was far too long for me on arrival but my local jewler only charged me £4. to shorten it for me.And best of all, Amazon had £70.0 off the price!I am very pleased with my purchase.
