OEM replacement
I love the OASE canister filter because of the easily removable pre-filter. These foam sponges are direct replacments for the original ones. Because of the higher particulate filtering, these tend to clog up quickly (~4 - 6 weeks) and should be cleaned. If you wait too long, they tend to pucker and compress. That's what happened to me and once compressed they don't go back to the usual shape.Lesson learned, but fortunately the replacements are readily available.

Probably not the best place for carbon in your setup, but a quick and easy way to run carbon.
Foam ppi rating not given on the package, but I believe it to be approximately 50 ppi, a bit more coarse than the 60 ppi Fine set also sold by OASE.I have since opted to add a carbon foam pad in the top tray. Will reserve these for times when I'm forced to medicate the tank and need extra carbon to quickly remove the meds.
