Cute!
This was a cute book. I read it to my 12 year old who hates math. It’s kinda cheesy but it got her thinking about all of the different ways we use math. I really like the quiz question on the inside cover.

I reali enjoyed it!
I read everything book to be surge my Kids will like it. I’m an adult that struggled with Math as a child and I will go beyond to help my little ones to enjoy and to understand why it is important. This book was so nice, I felt it spoke to my inner girl and she was so pleased. I can’t wait to share it with my kids.

Great math trade book for discouraged students!
In Bethan Barton's I'm Trying to Love Math, an unknown narrator is greeted by a purple alien who tries to explain that math actually can be likable. The narrator is set in their ways, believing that math is boring and not useful. However, the purple alien quickly refutes all of these ways by providing examples of how math is found and used in everything, from baking recipes to maps and music, etc.I think this book is a great read for students and teachers alike. I think it would be great in any classroom to help show the importance and different applications of math. It would be highly effective for students who just can’t understand the “why?” of math and have an overall distaste for math. The novel is extremely engaging and friendly for students to read and understand with lots of pictures and descriptions to help simplify difficult topics. I would love to incorporate this novel into my future classroom!

Is it just me?
I love math. I'm a math teacher. I purchased this book for my daughter to read to my class during this time of online teaching. My daughter does not love math but loved this book so much she's keeping it. I guess I have to buy another. It helps to demonstrate that math is all around us. My 4th graders enjoyed the book as well. They even made a connection to another book by Jon Siescka (?) called the Math Curse. I recommend both books.
