Peaceful Parenting Message for Little Ones Who Yell
This book is wonderful in that it communicates the message that voices are not for yelling, but does not guilt the child into different behavior. Finding books like these that communicate a positive and peaceful parenting message, while giving more productive options than just saying "no" or "don't do that" for calming down (taking deep breaths, telling someone who you feel, etc), is not particularly easy, but this book nails it! I have already shared this book with many other parents. It hasn't magically stopped all yelling my toddler does, but it has given us go-to steps in her language, that we go back to again and again, and it has certainly helped. I love how at the end it says "voices are for..." and then lists various things voices are for, my toddler always says "I love you" at the very end and it's sweet to have that kind of resolution after a screaming episode when we decide to read this book again. Will it solve all yelling? No, but it's a great and positively peaceful tool to add to your little one's library.

Yelling louder now
I recently purchased "Voices Are Not for Yelling" in an attempt to teach my child the importance of using their inside voice. Unfortunately, the book has not been very effective, as my child continues to yell at the top of their lungs on a regular basis. The illustrations in the book are adorable, and the message about using a quiet voice is definitely important. However, my child seems to have completely ignored this message and continues to yell at every opportunity. In fact, I think the book may have made things worse. Now, whenever I tell my child to use their inside voice, they just laugh and say, "But it's not for yelling, Daddy!" and then proceed to scream even louder. My child is still yelling just as much as before, and I'm not sure what to do about it.

For ECE Classroom
Added this to my classroom collection of the series. Sadly needed to help reinforce classroom boundaries and SEL. The children love this series and the books do make an impact upon young children who are social experimenting.

Helpful teaching methof
I work at a daycare and read this daily. The kids and I both have it memorized. I love that the words from this book have helped me understand and communicate with screaming children. I'm able to empathize with them about their emotions and use teaching moments to remind them of the ideas from this book.To me, this book isn't just for kids, but for caregivers too. This book isn't for reading, it's for living. I try to be like the teacher in the book that days "thank you for using your words, I will help you." (My paraphrased version)Each of these books has tips for the caregiver in the last two pages. I highly recommend the whole series to all parents, teachers, or caregivers.

Great for kids AND for parents!
We LOVE this book. It explains how yelling affects others, and is a nice reminder for parents who read to their children, as well, ha ha. I love the tips in the back for parents and caregivers. The book uses simple language and the illustrations really expand on the ideas they are presenting. My child was also given tips on how to calm down when he does become angry, which I also love. Instead of just saying, "DON'T!" It says something similar to, "Here, this behavior will help in place of yelling." I love that children's feelings are acknowledged and they are given choices to control their reactions/environment a bit. I recommend these books to anyone who loves to read to their children...and are interested in reinforcing manners.

Cute
I got this for a Christmas present for my youngest great granddaughter. She is 15 months old and is starting to put words together, loves to read books with her mom and dad. She also likes to squeal fairly loud when she gets excited, which is often. It is cute book and I am sure her mom will appreciate its message, Her dad is fairly calm, but my granddaughter and my great granddaughter are not, so this book is very appropriate. It has lovely bright pictures on the pages that they will enjoy.

Wonderful Board Books - Clear Messages
This series is great for younger kids or kids that may need some reminders about basic conduct/manners/hygiene. The message is clear and direct, the colors are great, and the words are repetitive enough that they make for wonderful early readers as well. Our autistic son needs these reminders to help him navigate life in public school and he loves these books. These are board books, so they hold up well to the love they will surely receive. This one is especially nice for the kiddo that needs the "inside voice" reminder at the library.
