Adds strong visual quality to your gas fireplace
I believe the installer used something like this when my gas fire logs were first installed. Over time, the logs will get dusty and dingy, and they need some cleaning. So I had to replace my embers a few years ago, and I used normal Rock Wool alone. The Rock Worked well, but it didn't have the same bright glow as these embers. Another cycle later, and I really wanted to get that bright glow back. I picked up Rock Wool for most of the fireplace. But in key areas around my flames, I picked up these embers, and they did not disappoint.First of all, I was concerned about the price. But there's a lot more in the package than you might thing. Used in conjunction with Rock Wool, I only used about a third of the package to get what I needed (my logs are 24" wide for reference). The effect is impressive. The Rock Wool glows, but not as bright. So I will call that the cooler embers in the fireplace. The Platinum Embers grow really bright, as if they are very hot embers. The effect between the two is unparalleled. So if you want a good-looking fireplace, I would highly recommend picking up these Embers to supplement and enhance your Rock Wool.

Small Bag, but Works Great
As I said in the headline, this is a small bag, but enough to do two gas fireplaces, and they really work great. Nice warm glow to increase efficiency. It's worth the price; after all, it's platinum.

Impressive!!! Looks amazing.
Significant difference from the home builders product. Replaced everything and we are extremely happy with the result. Of all the different products that we bought, this is one of the more impressive ones.

great for rebuilding zippo hand warmer catalyst
these embers make a great fit for liquid fueled hand warmers or catalytic hand warmers like zippos. makes them run a little hotter and seems to last longer.they are a bit expensive, but once you buy a pack of these embers you really don’t have to buy anymore since the catalysts last for about 100 uses. This could possibly last a lifetime if you use the right amount.I’ve rebuilt about five zippo catalysts and I’ve only gone through about an 1/8th of the bag.Just be careful to wear gloves and to not breathe in the dust it makes because I’m sure it could do some harm to your lungs. But overall these are a lot better than buying the expensive catalyst pads that aren’t great quality.I also bought another pack of these to use in my gas fireplace and they worked extremely well and were very easy to set up.overall great product and the price isn’t that bad in the long run. Hope this helps!

it works for hand warmers
i bought this cause after i picked up a few hand warmers one which only worked one time because the platinum pad was very thin and kind of fell apart. after i put some of this in the warmer it worked really well, so well i just put it in the other two the same way. i will say they do burn hotter.....hot enough where you cant really hold them unless they are in the bags. im sure i can tweak the amount to get it more close to the stock temp but i dont mind the extra heat.

Fantastic!
The media could not be loaded. A little bit of this on top of the standard wool creates two levels of glow. Seems expensive, but I used less than 1/4 of the bag. Fire looks great!

Enhanced the glow in our fireplace
A little pricey for what it is, but should last forever.

Zippo liquid fuel hand warmer catalytic burner replacement material.
This platinum doped mineral wool is the same material as what is found in catalytic hand warmers. I bought this as a cheaper and more effective alternative to the flimsy catalytic wafers found in the burners provided by Zippo. Originally I had three zippo catalytic wafers stacked in the burners on my hand warmers, but I couldn’t justify the cost to do that again when I bought more sets of hand warmers, so I did some research and found these “platinum embers” to use in the burner instead. You just take the retention clip out of the burner, remove the old wafer, and pack in a piece or two of this material and put the retention clip back in and pop the burner on the hand warmer. Works like a charm.
