Very solid capable grinder/cutter
I bought this to remove and clean up some angle iron on my mailbox post. It worked just as I hoped, made nice clean cuts and the grinding was pretty smooth after removing the welds. The manual states that you should only use the indented grinding wheels, but I found the flat ones work fine. By turning over the hold down washer, I was also able to use the very thin cut-off wheels too. This unit comes with 5 grinder wheels (much more than I would ever use), and I got cheap cut off wheels from harbor freight to do the cutting.A good unit at a reasonable price, and the included hard carrying case made it a better deal for the occasional user like myself.

A very well made angle grinder, in a compact package
I have only had the grinder for a week, but have been grinding off paint and rust from my collector car. So far I have done 2 body panels, and it's been in use for about 4 hours. This is tough work on the grinder. It purrs through the job. Plenty of power. Well built. Easy to change discs. I really appreciate the case, which holds lots of discs, and room for the cord, etc..... This grinder was a high quality buy at a great price. Made in China, not USA, as I have seen in some descriptions.

Not the best tool on the market but definately not trash
I got this to do body work on my car and I didn't want to drop down a lot of money for something I might not use again. I checked it out at Lowes and for the price they wanted, I got it on Amazon with a pack of cutt off wheels and the satisfaction of not doing business with Lowes, I've had some bad experiences with them. I tried it out and I works pretty good, not the best one out there on the market but it gets the job done. If getting cutt off wheels, try to get ones with a 7/8" hole in them to fit the arbor on the grinder. The dewalt ones i got have a 5/8" hole, they do work on it but you have to manually center the wheel on it. I would recommend if you need the tool for daily use, I would spend some more and get a makita or similar priced one.

Worth the money
I have been a contractor, pressman and industrail mechanic so tools are important to me. I normally buy high quality tools only as I can justify the costs based on the lifetime use. I bought this grinder to cut stone on my fireplace for a modification I was doing. To my surprise for the amperage and price this unit is really worth more than it costs. A real value.

Best value and great performance!!
I couldn't be happier with this grinder. The first time I used it was to cut off bolts holding a rusted exhaust pipe under my car. I first had tried a reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade but it was almost useless and took a looong time for just one bolt. I ordered this from Amazon and it arrived in 2 days with prime shipping. It comes with five abrasive disks (all were for metal cutting - it would have been more useful if they were an assortment). The Hitachi cut through the bolts very quickly with minimal effort. I had no problem with the on/off switch. Overall, I am very happy with this saw and look forward to using it to cut some patio bricks!

It delivers!
I've used this tool for about a month and am very pleased with it's performance. Looking at a few of the negitive comments regarding power, I must say I'm astounded. If you're truly a tool guy, you listen to the tool when using it and don't push it beyond it's feedback. The grinder is very powerful for it's size, comfortable to use and performs smoothly within the range it was designed for. I've used it for bolt sheering, concrete cutting, metal grinding and wood shaping with no issue. I love the weight and balance, the case and it's smaller size. You can't go wrong with this lighter duty grinder.

Simple and tough
The good: Fairly inexpensive for a good quality tool. It had held up to a little under a year of use and abuse without a problem. The odd: Not really sure why the handle is angled the way it is. Sometimes it gets in the way a little bit, but I've always been able to angle it one way or another to do what I need to do.I've used this to strip linings out of 55 gallon drums, cut 1/8" steel and sheet metal roofing, and grind rust and paint off cars and truck beds. Hasn't shown any signs of wear yet, works just as well as the first day I used it.

Buy only for looks!!!
I bought this angle grinder for work as a welder and fitter. We usually only use grinders to grind off welds or smooth out burn marks. I figured this Hitachi would be an awesome tool for the job. I unboxed the grinder the day I got it and went to work. About half way through the work day, the oppertunity arose for me to test it out. After only 3 minutes of light grinding, this product went from 5 stars to 1. It did not burn up, I am a proffessional and know how to use tools properly (Follow the duty cycle). It lost more than half it's power and has a "thud" in it's rotation. Do not buy this product if you plan on actually using it. But if you want to show off this great looking paper weight, this grinder is for you.
