This is an awesome solution to smelly athletic shoes...
This is an awesome simple solution to smelly athletic shoes... Pair it with a Z-Wave outlet timing routine or something like the "Teklectric Indoor Auto Shut Off" and you can set it and forget it. No residues stuck in the shoe from sprays, and nothing blowing around in the air. Seems to work fairly well. It would be nice if they had a built in timer option of some sort... you might want to run it for 12 hours early on, but I generally just want to run it for 1-2 hours for maintenance. It does a five minute ozone cycle, then blows warm air for 55 minutes before cycling back to the ozone. A couple of hours seems to be plenty to keep things fresh. The cord on the back makes it slightly more awkward to put in or remove depending on the shoe size... and for tight athletic shoes like say climbing - a typical size 8.5 shoe can be a little snug, but so long as most of the body ends up in the shoe I don't think it matters much.

Gives shoes some much needed help.
Really like these deodorizers. I'm blessed with some pretty stinky feet but these really help when left on overnight. I've done sniff tests and asked the wife to sniff test (which she declined) but I've recieved less complaints for sure. It kind of gives the shoes a more odor free or more like new shoe smell. It is pretty amazing. The warmer definitely does the trick to dry it out and the UV seems to create the Ozone required to sterilize and remove the odors. I do have size 12 shoes which provide some wiggle room for these to fit inside of but the overall effectiveness does not seem to be impacted.Great stuff and good product thus far.

Does get rid of odor
It does get rid of odor and dry the shoes very well. The only concern is that the device runs extremely hot. I’m not sure if it is normal.

highly recomemded
works well as deodorizer and dryer for soccer cleats and hiking shoes. It has a heating element that is on all the time and an ozone bulb that buzzes on for a few minutes every hour or so. I placed it in the garage because I didn't want those stinky soccer cleats in the house. Fits shoes that are size 10 and aboveMy son plays soccer every day for about two hours and even leaving those cleats outside every night couldn't keep the stench away. We tried for awhile those deodorizer ball but I was not happy. Now he places this PEET Dryer in the cleats after practice and leaves them in the garage overnight. It is not totally stink free but is manageable. Today we had to replace the old cleats and I am hoping that treating them with this dryer from day one will keep them from getting funky in the first place

Faulty and dangerous design
I own other dryers by PEET and am a big fan. This device, however, is faulty by design and seems destined to become a fire hazard. The issue is that the wires enter the shoe dryers from the heel, which means the wire connectors are flexed each and every time you insert the device into your shoes. Over time, the plastic wire housings will form tears and eventually separate, leaving the wires being unprotected and vulnerable to chafing and, eventually, to shorting. See the attached photos. We owned this device for three years and it was used lightly; we were always careful to not bend the wires any more than necessary; and we never pulled on the wires when removing the device from our shoes. The problem is the design. Functionally, they work great, but I'd highly recommend AGAINST buying this product.

Yes, these things work.
I just got these for Christmas and they work great. I'm very impressed.I put them in my hunting boots because they had gotten wet and they stunk like mold. I left them overnight and the smell is gone... IMPRESSIVE. So now I put them in my house slippers that I wear without socks. They are about 4 years old and they do stink. I'm gonna see what happens now, but at this point, I'm super impressed. They are quiet, fast, portable, and really take the smell out of shoes. If you have teenage boys, I'd get this for each one of them and insist they use them.

Does what it says it does
I can't attest to the ozone if produces in the process but it will dry your shoes and works well at chasing smells out of sneakers. I would not find it convenient to travel with - though they give you a mesh bag to keep it in. Would be rather clumsy in my opinion to tote around with you.

Works great. But is the effect only temporary?
I bought this for my boxing gloves but I ended up using it more for my sneakers. The ionic feature really does remove all traces of the odor after each use. However if I wear my sneakers for a day, the odor returns. I wear clean socks and wash my feet. I guess there is some bacteria that's dormant when the sneakers are dried out. Just got to keep using it daily I guess.
