Cats had no interest
I bought this for my cats to chew on so they'd stop trying to eat my bamboo plant. Unfortunately, my cats had zero interest in the wheat grass and wouldn't eat their cat food if I put the wheat grass on/in it. So I tried using it in a smoothie for myself so it wouldn't go to waste. Yuck. I'd never had wheat grass before so I don't know what it was supposed to taste like, but I seriously could have just whacked off a handful of lawn from my back yard. It would have tasted the same. It was super easy to grow, but that was about all I can say in its favor. I eventually tossed it in the woods out back because it was taking up counter space. Hopefully some deer or rabbits found it and enjoyed it.

Works, but expensive for what it is
I caught my cat chewing on my palm tree - that's when I knew I had to buy some cat grass for her. Poor palm tree and poor kitty (she is fine). I went with this kit because I needed the grass fast and this was with prime 2 day shipping. It is very expensive for what it is though. You get a bag with some soil and hard wheat berries. You cut off the top of the bag and hydrate the soil and the berries. I do not remember the details of it, but I do remember that the more buoyant parts of the soil were floating up and were covering the wheat berries. This did not hamper the wheat grass growing just fine. The grass grew in about 5-6 days and looked (and apparently tasted) just fine.If you just need cat grass once or want the convenience of just opening a bag, this is for you. If you have to continuously grow grass for your pet and are budget conscious, buy some hard wheat berries and soil. That is what I did and for twice of what one of these kits costs I will be able to grow wheat grass for more than one year (and if the berries stay good for much longer than that).

Lasted me a month at least! Longer than others
Lasted me a month at least! Longer than others. I've tried SmartCat Kitty's Garden and Cat-About by MiracleCorp. They lasted perhaps a week or two for me and cost as much or more. This outlasts them both with tall, healthy, green grass. I can buy a bunch and keep them in a drawer. They take up less storage space than the others.Just make sure the water drains and that it's not sitting in a puddle of drained water or you'll have a moldy, soupy mess. I did that once. The proper way to do this is to punch pinholes in the bottom. I have a tiny pin and I punch maybe two dozen holes (more than they suggest). Then I put mine in a heavy, square, glass vase that's about 6" x 6" x 6". It keeps the bag upright when my cat gets her greens. I make sure to water it (maybe a half a cup of water) when the leaves start to wilt a bit or when the dirt/fill feels dry. I make sure to drain the water out of my glass vase. The grass will bounce right back and last another several days. I keep doing this until the grass finally gives up.

Fun To Grow - Difficult To Get My Cats To Enjoy It
This was a fun project for me and my son to grow for our cats. It was super easy and even though the instructions say to let them sit in sunlight, we were able to grow them without sunlight just fine. The grass grows fast and it lasts a good amount of time. The only downside is that my two cats didn't care for it. They nibbled a bit but they never got into it. I caught one of my cats happily chewing on our artificial Christmas tree as the freshly sprouted grass sat less than 2 feet away from her. I picked her up and put her closer to the grass to reacquaint her but she looked at me like I was crazy, walked back over to the artificial tree and resumed her snacking. Luckily, the fake tree didn't cause her any medical distress but I really wish she would have taken to this grass like other cats I've had over the years. Our male cat nibbled the grass a few times in passing but like his mom, he wasn't that into it overall. I don't know if they would prefer another type of grass (this one is wheat grass but I know they also sell other types) so I plan to try again with another strain.

Easy & Fun To Grow, And It Helped My Cat
I ordered this for an indoor cat that had started getting bald spots. We read that this could be caused by a nutrient deficiency when feeding a cat only processed food. This was exactly the problem since his fur started growing back very healthy after nibbling this grass for a couple of weeks. This kit was easy to grow with decent directions. The directions don't mention this, but you actually need to cut the bag down about half-height. There are a couple of marks on the bag that seem to be hinting to this, as well as an image on the bag, of the bag being half it's original height with the grass growing way out of the bag. Without cutting the bag down, only the tips of the grass will stick out of the bag and be useless. This product includes enough seeds for at least three good sowings. The seeds sprouted in about 2 1/2 days, and were useful grass in about 7 - 10 more days. The seeds I received had a very good germination rate, probably 95%+, even though the USDA inspection sticker said they were from 2011. The first batch of grass lasted about 6 weeks for me, then became brown and mostly dead. I dumped the mostly dead grass and original potting soil out of the bag, and I'm reusing the bag now for a second batch that's coming along nicely. The cat(s) that eat the grass gently chew off the tips when I place it near their food dish at night. I return the bag to the South-west facing windowsill by day, watering once in the morning, and once at night. I initially worried that the cats would pull the grass out of the bag, or destroy it somehow, but they actually just chew the tips without even tugging on the grass, or turning the bag over.I'd highly recommend this product to anyone who thinks their indoor cat needs some greens in addition to processed food. You get enough seeds for three batches which last about 6 weeks each. You could even buy two and start one when the other is nearly finished, so you have a steady supply of grass for your pet. You only need a lightly-stained green thumb for this project. You just open the bag, cut the bag in half (horizontally), take the seed packet and instructions out, pour some warm water in the bag, mush the soil around to get it saturated, poke 10 drain holes in the bottom with a push-pin, scoop out enough soil to cover the seeds with 1/4" of soil, spread 1/3 of your seeds in the bag, cover them with 1/4" of soil, water again lightly and place the bag in sunlight for 6 hours a day. Remember to water it daily since the included soil is hard to re-wet if allowed to dry out. I kept the leftover seeds inside their original packet, stored in a Zip-lock bag.

great product
This product is easy to use. The greens grow quickly (with in a few days, it's sprouting) and my indoor cats love it .
