Nest Thermostat Wall Plate - Modern Golden Oak

This is a beautiful product! I was a little disappointed that I had to use my dremel to hollow out two small spots on the back so the bracket was completely flush against the wall, but other than that, it's really awesome!My house was built in the 1940's, so this really fits all the original hard wood.It looks great and gives my nest a warm and classic, retro meets contemporary look that it could never have on it's own.I read these reviews that say it's overpriced. No one is forcing you to buy it. But if you're going to spend the money on a nest, it doesn't hurt to drop a little extra on a quality product like this.I paid $50 (now it's $45) and I'm glad I did!

Unless you particularly like this wall plate's oversized wooden look, I can't recommend it. The Nest comes with its own more modern minimalist wall plate, which I think makes this superfluous. I bought it because the Amazon description for the Nest [unfortunately] did not indicate there was a wall plate in the box, but there was. So, this purchase was a bit of a waste of time from my perspective.

Much better then the cheap plastic rectangle piece that comes with the Nest. Thermostat is round, so I dont understand why Nest ships a rectangle plastic wall plate. Definitely overpriced for what it is though. I question if this is really made from "European Beech wood". It is very lightweight, but does do the job. Also nothing else like this on the market.

I have to give this 3 stars because it is not sal all easy to install th Nest to it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but you have to screw the Nest into hard wood. There are no holes in this plate to do so with ease. The actual plate is solid and eewe made band would look beautiful if I. Can bet the Nest screwed in. Then I have to hope the Nest works and cool 87 degree house quickly!

I really like this wall plate. I searched everywhere for something to blend in with a more natural and traditional decor. I am staining the wood like I saw another reviewer do and even though I'm a first timer, it's been really easy to do. I will post a picture as soon as the wood is dry and the Nest is installed. The price didn't bother me because I couldn't find anything else like this and I looked for quite a while.

Initially I ordered golden oak, thinking it had a lot of 'red' in it.Boy . . . was i wrong! Golden oak is a mix of champagne gold and dull brown. Really unattractive.So i returned mine in exchange for an unfinished plate.I've never stained anything in my life, but thanks to a 15 minute Youtube video, I'm now a master.I took my time (Two and a half days).I think it turned out pretty good.
