Where has this been all my life?!?
Thinking of how much silicone I’ve wasted from dripping off molds, this definitely does the job! Add a few small squirts (depending on amount of silicone) and stir for 2 minutes till you decide to add more. It’s amazing for mold making! I’ve made my silicone as thick as Vaseline and it goes on so smooth and thick, not wasting silicone and hours of having to pour more silicone to build up the mold.

Great stuff, goes a long way!
I don't need to use it that often so a bottle will last me for years. Yes it still works well after a few years after opening. A little goes a long way. Add some drops to your silicone and stir it, in a few seconds you will know if it has thickened enough. If not, add a bit more. I like using it for brush on molds. I put a thin layer of silicone (without the thivex added) and then add the thivex thickened layers until I have the desired thickness (let it cure about 75%-90% before adding more layers) It will save you a lit of money in the end especially on large molds and prototypes. I am a big fan of thivex. Note: this is for platinum cured silicones. I have used it with tin cured silicones and unfortunately it never thickened it.

Learning curve
This didn't come with any mixing instructions so there is a learning curve with a lot of trial and error. Eventually it worked really well.

Fast to thicken.
don't need much this stuff works fast too. Add a drop or two to your mix and after a few seconds of mixing it will be nice and thick. add a few more if you didn't get it to the thickness you need.

thixotropic additives to silicone rubber
It does allow tuning of the speed of set of tin-based silicone rubbers but ....some controversy about its use, as some evidence that it may shortenthe library life of a tin based silicone mold.Even so, I use a nearly identical additive frequently in my studio.
