Q: Does this have an on-off switch or do you squeeze a trigger to activate it?

We would like to inform you that this vacuum has a power switch that slides between Off, Bare Floor, and Carpet. It also has a trigger that you can pull for a boost in power.

We can assist you with your inquiry. The handheld part of this unit can not be attached directly to the the floor nozzle. There is a mini motorized brush attachment that can be purchased that is great to use on carpeted stairs.
