Great pictures, but not great writing
This is one of the very first book I bought on De Stijl, and I have bought many since and I am trying to review all the ones I have bought on Amazon so far.I would really not recommend this particular book, however, unless you are a college professor. I have a college degree in English, and I could hardly understand a single point the author was trying to make. His text was bloated on "scholarly" vocabulary (or jargon). It seemed to ramble around and around, trying to make some point about De Stijl in the context of Dutch history, but I really don't think I ever got what the point was.This is also a small book, so don't expect the pictures to be particularly large.If you want a quick, interesting look at De Stijl, this is not your book. If you want great pictures of De Stijl classics, this is not your book.I really expected more from a Thames and Hudson book (I have others published by them, and they are wonderful). But, this one was a miss.

90% of the pictures are in black and white. Ridiculous.
It's ridiculous all black and white pictures. What were they thinking, how can the readers enjoy a Mondrian composition in color B or Rietveld's Red and Blue Chair as black and white pictures?I returned it.
