Skip the expensive smoke shop torches, this is the only one you'll need.
This is an excellent torch that works better than some I've paid twice as much for. It's bigger than it looks in the pictures, and feels solid to hold. The flame is very adjustable and has a large useful range - from a small flame to 2inch blue cone of fury. It's a wide flame that covers a lot of space evenly. It's easy enough to operate with one hand, and the angle of the torch is great. I've had torches that work poorly when tilted, so this is a welcome change. The electric starter feels really solid compared to the other "culinary" torches, and has never failed to ignite the flame.I can't recommend this enough if you need a torch for your rig. I'll update this if anything breaks down or if I ever get around to using this for cooking.Update: This worked very well to add char to a steak. No issues after months of heavy use, and it lights every time you click the starter.

Great torch!
Super easy to use. I love the little red lock, because of the little clicking sound lets me know for sure the gas is turned off. The flame is a nice range of small for precision to large for wider range. I used this for crème brûlée and it works perfectly. Making sure you align the gas can before pressing down to refill is very important. The first attempt at filling it I just pressed down and counted to 10 seconds and assumed it was near full since I saw some liquid splatter out (not much just some drops), but it was hardly full. Next attempt I made sure it was aligned properly and counted closer to 15-20 seconds or so before I stopped and saw drops sputtering out. I used a paper towel to wrap around the base vertically before refilling so if it splattered, it wouldn't get on my hand. Amazing customer service, too. Very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended this torch!

replacement is good so far
It worked well for a few months, and I only refilled it two times before the igniter quit working. Pretty expensive for such a short life.UPDATE: I have received a replacement and it works better than the first one ever did, the flame is stronger and it lights quicker. I also see the price has dropped about $6.00 since I bought mine a few months ago.

easy to use
I bought this for my acrylic pour painting and it seems to work fine. I love how easy it is to operate. Only difficulty I had was in filling it but that was my fault as I wasn't doing it right. Once I got the hang of it, it was very easy. On durability I gave it 4 stars as I haven't had it more than a month so can't speak to how durable it is. I have dropped it once and nothing broke off and I dropped it on a concrete floor. I am happy with it and would recommend it for the purpose I bought it for. I do not use it in cooking so can't rate it for that. I would definitely buy it again.

Worked great for one year
Hello,I bought this for the high volume bar that I manage in Portland, OR. We used this torch multiple times a day, everyday for a little over year, and now it has quit working. I am pretty bummed because I feel like it should work forever. It seems like the ignitor is what has broken internally, because we can here the butane coming out. I guess it also sucks that we keep wasting butane trying to figure out what is wrong, so that costs us money as well. I will write in to see if we can have an exchange. But it was good for the first whole year!

Terrific - would highly recommend this torch.
This is the 3rd culinary torch I have tried and the 1st one that really delivers. It was easy to fill and with just one click of the igniter, I had a flame. The flame is very easy to adjust from the dial and I like the sturdy base. It is larger than the two other torches I tried and the only one with a guard to keep may hand safe from the flame. I think this is the one for me. Safe, efficient and affordable!

It gets 2 stars because the torch part even works at all.
Out of the (crushed) box came my brand new (used) culinary torch, already missing was the gasket around the fuel valve on the bottom, and the knob's ability to stay attached to the lighter. The grooves that usually appear around the brass piece the knob slides onto were also missing. The base at the bottom was absent any weight, making it tip easily to either side.Despite all this I was unfazed. "Who am I to let a little thing like a malfunctioning and maybe dangerous product get my spirits down?" I asked myself as I tried to avoid inhaling the small butane clouds which formed every time I attempted to fill the gasket-less fuel tank. I could not wait to "safely" try this, I had to see how it worked immediately. After all how bad could it be?Upon finding the knob and reattaching it again, I was ready to test. I turned the knob, let the gas flow and hit the button, and there it was, shining like a diamond in a goat's as*. Ignition! Big beautiful blue flame came pouring out of the end. This is what I paid for!I turned the lighter sideways to see how it worked when aimed upwards and suddenly the knob popped off again. I could not shut the lighter off because the brass piece the knob slides onto is recessed, and has no grip. So I carried the lighter around for a few minutes on near full blast, raising the temperature in my room at least ten degrees. I found the knob which was now missing the spring loaded safety that it came with, and was able to finally shut off the lighter.Eventually I was able to find and reassemble the knob along with the spring loaded safety latch. Upon reassembly I noticed the very spring that powered the latch was forcing the knob off...that is how little pressure it took to dislodge the knob, once again...I finally got out my screw gun and put a screw through the base into a table. Thankfully I do not need a mobile source of flame. At least it is safe now and I wont accidentally knock it over if I have to go looking for the frigging knob again! If it wasn't a huge inconvenience to be without this , I would ship it back to the seller immediately. DO NOT RECOMMEND! I have already ordered another one from a different site, and... AWWWW DAMMIT! There goes the freaking knob again!!!....and i would not recommend this product or this seller to anyone.
