This vacuum replaced a 1800watt Tesco model. My wife wanted the new one to be lighter, which influenced my decision. Overall I'm very pleased with it so far. Uses 800watts, but the suction is significantly superior. It is noticably both lighter and quieter than the predecessor, and the upright handle flexes side to side as well as for & aft, making cleaning around furniture easier. Easy to empty and clean. There are two filters in the top of the cyclone tube, a hard corrugated filter which is washed clean monthly and a circular foam insert. This certainly traps fine particles and needs knocking clean at each emptying, as well as monthly wash. I hope I can buy more of these, as they will fray fairly quickly. The hose is not very long. but easy to use. A twin ended crevice / brush tool was provided, which is unremarkable. Overall it is light, powerful and easy to use, so pleased to recommend.Correction: It has been pointed out that the Athena 2 is a 400w cleaner, which from my perspective makes it's cleaning power all the more impressive. Have yet to source more circular foam filter inserts, but I remain very satisfied with this vacuum cleaner.

I'd barely had time to register the guarantee and use the cleaner a couple of times before a part broke and fell off. I contacted Russell Hobbs about this and they made it clear they are not interested in doing anything about it! Also, the pet hair attachment is useless - hardly any suction at all. I pointed this out and they didn't even comment on it in their reply.So much for customer service and satisfaction! Russell Hobbs used to be a decent middle market brand but I will not be buying a Russell Hobbs product again.

Only used it once, things fell off more or less straight away and it was difficult to push. Hardly any suction and the rubber underneath became loose. It’s worth putting money towards something a bit more expensive to get a better quality vacuum cleaner.

I ordered the Russell Hobbs RHUV5601 Athena 2 vacuum cleaner Sunday the 4th of October, with a confirmed next day delivery. I cancelled some prior arrangements to stay in and wait for my purchase, which failed to be delivered. Instead, it arrived on the evening of Wednesday the 7th of October. Little did i know, this was to be, just the first issue, I would have with the product.The description says that there’s a 2.5L dust capacity when there is only a 2L dust capacity. Furthermore, the picture says this vacuum cleaner comes with a 400W motor but the description says it is 700W. I looked to the customer questions for clarification and was informed that it was a 700W. This was a main selling point for me but, unfortunately this is not the correct. If this one month old customer question post is incorrect then the fault must lie with the seller for not correcting false assertions on top of having misleading descriptions of their product.The only positive point out of this whole situation is that the description says its a 5m power cable when the box and hoover show that its a 6m cable.I would not have purchased this product if I had known it was only a 400W motor and definitely not at that price.

Very disappointed, this product was advertised as 700w it actually states on the box to be 400w, which I would not have purchased. I decided to assemble it and see what it was like. After 2 minutes of using it a rubber at the front came off, it doesn't state on instructions whether it should be there or not. Overall the description of the Watts does not match what is advertised. Very disappointed.
