I am able to use this item to provide power to my iPhone when driving my 24 year old Mercedes-Benz SLK 320. This car predates the use of usb ports so none are provided. Works great and also provides a digital readout of my battery’s voltage.

This is a triple USB outlet that plugs into the usual cigarette lighter socket of a vehicle. The first thing I noticed is that the spring in the base is very strong. The unit required a good amount of force to push it into the socket all the way. This is good for my purposes because I am using it in a 4WD vehicle that gets a lot of hard bumps that could dislodge a weaker spring. If one is going to constantly insert and remove this unit, the amount of force may eventually damage the outlet.Much left unsaid in the description of this unit, so I researched the amperages of several devices that I will be using in my vehicle. I will fill in the blanks in the advertising.First, the green outlet labeled QC 3.0 means that the maximum amperage output at this port is 3.0 amps. The unit is rated at 36 watts which means that at 12 volts, all the power would be going to this port for a device drawing 36 watts. Luckily, most iphones use 20 watts so there will be 16 watts left for the other 2 ports.Not mentioned are the amperages of the other two ports. For USB 2.0 the maximum is 0.5 amp and for USB 3.0 it is 0.9 amps. This comes out to 6 watts and 11 watts. If one is trying to use two iphones, the one on the 3.0 port will stay charged but the one on the other port will not. One must be careful about how many devices are being used on this unit.All in all it is ideal for my purposes which are to use a GPS, a hand held GMRS radio and a cell phone. All together those do not exceed 36 amps.A nice feature is that the detected volts in the cigarette socket is displayed in blue on the unit. The reading I get is 12.8 V which is probably accurate. This may give one warning if the battery in the vehicle is getting weak, which is any voltage less than 12 V.

Nice product. Good quality. Works as advertised and provides a snug fit in the cigarette lighter socket. There a million of these kind of gadgets in the marketplace. This happens to be one of the better ones. Purchased another one recently.

This is handy to keep track of the charging system in my car - better to track trends than to suddenly be stranded. I compared it to my DVOM directly across the battery - this reads about .2V less, though that could be due to resistance in the wiring. Not a big deal. Would give it 5 stars if it had the option of green or red light vs blue. For the brightness at night, the blue is somewhat annoying. But functionally it does what it's supposed to.

I bought this when we were having repeated problems with the battery in our car being dead. The problem turned out to be a defective part that the dealer replaced because it caused a parasitic draw on the battery even when everything was turned off. I used this to keep an eye on the voltage until I was certain the problem had been fixed. Tip: use a voltmeter to measure the battery voltage directly at the battery terminals, then compare the voltage reading from this adapter. That will give you a baseline understanding of the voltage drop that occurs in the wiring harness from the battery to the cigarette lighter. This helps you understand what the voltage shown adapter meter means over time. Just tried this in a relative's 2019 Outback and the two measurements were the same (11.82 at battery, 11.8 on the adapter) so virtually no voltage drop in that car's harness -- meaning he can use the adapter to accurately monitor electrical system voltage.
