Triathletes are defined by their versatility and their grit-your-teeth endurance, and the ZOOT Men's Ultra Tempo 5.0 Running Shoe is no different. The Tempo goes where your typical road running shoe doesn't belong: at the front of a fast-moving pack of elite athletes who don one piece of gear just as soon as they shed another. BareFit design gives this shoe a soft, smooth feel on the inside and the type of comfort that you'll rave about after marathon distances on hot pavement. There's no need to mess with socks, because the close-fitting upper and smooth inner lining are designed specifically to hold your foot without causing blisters. Quick-pull laces are a standard on triathlon footwear, but ZOOT took the lacing setup a step further with an asymmetric shape that follows the contour of your foot for ultimate security. After you whip through your transition and the rubber meets the road, you'll discover how light and powerful the Ultra Tempo feels underfoot. A carbon forefoot shank delivers a snappy feeling through toe-off, and when your foot hits the ground again, the dual-density midsole supports your stride and absorbs impact. Combined with the lightweight, breathable mesh upper, this all adds up to near effortless forward movement and a total weight of under ten ounces.Product FeaturesUpper Material: polyester, nylonWaterproofing: Lining: Closure: Quick LaceLast: Footbed: Midsole: dual-density EVASole: Carbon Span+Support Type: Heel / Forefoot Height: 21 / 11 mmDrop: 10 mmClaimed Weight: [single] 9.3 ozRecommended Use: triathlon, racing, trainingManufacturer Warranty: 1 year

Great shoes
Love these shoes - wish I knew I would like them so much and I would have ordered more pairs at the same time. Great fit- good on road and off. Laces are great too - easy on and off.

decent shoe
shoes fits fine only problem is the achilles area. Tore me up really bad when I did my Tri. The area is waaaaaay to rough and I was bledding pretty bad. So make sure to wear socks. Won't buy again.

Good shoe and good fit
I am close to 60 and have been running almost 20 years and have completed 7 marathons and many triathlons including a half iron man. I do most my running in saucony which I love. This shoe seems very close to fit to saucony and to Nike. I actually am breaking them in without socks and have not had a problem with rubbing. I think this is very situational based on your foot and ankle structure. Hope to skip the socks while racing. Lace locking system works by pulling laces up into slots. Feel that overall a push down lock system similar to many speed laces would be better. Support structure feels similar, if not more rigid, to my saucing kinveras. Hole in tounge and loop in back is functional in putting shoe on.

Love these shoes!
These shoes are comfortable and well made. I wear a 11 1/2 but these seemed to be a tad tight on my foot length (toe touching the front of the shoe). But even being snug they are so much more comfortable than laced running shoes. I would definately buy again but a half size larger.

A poor ride
I bought these shoes specifically for use in triathlons. In some ways they are very good. But the ride (the foot strike and push off) is very poor. The positives: They are good looking and draw compliments. They are comfortable on the foot and fit properly. They are easy to get on and off.The negative: They have no bounce. It feels like my forefoot was slapping the ground. I ran one race and my time dropped by several seconds, which I attribute to leg fatigue caused by these shoes. Can't recommend them and would not buy them again.

Great Shoe!!!
Husband loved the zoots! I own a pair and always wear them while running - my suggestion to anyone purchasing a pair is to go up half a size for comfort :)

I found the ZOOTS shoes to be better value, last longer
I have been purchasing ZOOTS running shoes for 3 years now, having switched from running a few marathons wearing ASICS. I found the ZOOTS shoes to be better value, last longer, more comfortable, and helped in my slight pronation.

Good Shoe
I love Zoot. I bought them for triathlon, but wear them now for all running. This pair ripped during a track workout on the outside of both shoes between the toe and logo. I was hard on the shoes, but expect better. That said, will purchase brand again in future.
