Would have been a GREAT Hat..but was squashed.
I should have paid more attention to the reviews that said this hat arrived with damage. This hat would probably have been a GREAT hat....but..it arrived "Squashed in the Box". It was not 2 inches tall squashed flat in the original plastic bag...before it was ever placed in the shipping box. The shipping box was not damaged. I returned it for full refund and ordered one similar from Stetson.

High quality
Beautiful hat. Fits me perfectly because I had the exact hat for about 20 years that I purchased from REI and it finally broke down so I was very happy to find a second replacement

Come-what-may type of hat; I like!
It's somewhere between a four and a three... Arrived smashed in a box with little protection. Was able to steam it out, luckily but at this price and all the hoopala over a "panama" hat, it really should have been better handled, and with care at that! Anyway.... the hat is fine; it's not a fantastic "panama" and that's alright because I really wanted something I could wear for fishing and hiking and not worry about it's shape or upkeep. It is floppy and soft, which I like! I doesn't hold it's shape very well; tried steaming it to give the brim a little curve up so I could "snap" down the brim in the front like a fedora if I wanted to, but I don't believe the hat was woven with that in mind; meaning it seems like it's more of a flat woven brimmed hat rather a bit tighter/shorter weave at the perimeter which would cause it to curl up or down. Again, not a huge problem because I wasn't expecting it to match a $300+ panama. I guess you could steam it into shape and apply a little stiffener, but you're not going to get much of an up/down turn either way. It's a nice hat, fits well for a 7 1/2 (thankfully!!!) and I don't have to treat it like it's worth more than it was; so that works out well for me. Please note that I had also ordered it's cousin, the Pantropic Men's Classic Fedora in the same size; crushed upon arrival and was really a MED size, not a LARGE as indicated on the label so beware of sizing discrepancies. Again, a handmade hat which is not the highest of quality, but not bad given it's price and performs it's function as intended without having to baby it as if it was a more expensive, higher quality panama. Nice hat; happy to wear it!

Pantropic makes great hats, this one was not as large overall ...
Pantropic makes great hats, this one was not as large overall as I would have liked, but was able to have my friend use it instead of for myself.

Good looking hat
Good looking hat, several people have asked me where I got it. The strap could be a little better but good value for the price.

Looked long and hard; found a good one!
4 stars because I am still missing my previous straw hat that I could no longer duct-tape together. This is a very good panama style hat with tight, professional weave and well proportioned. The packing was a little tight which kept it snug and safe for shipping but put two small creases in the top that needed to be ironed out. I would have preferred a 4" brim but the 3" is adequate to keep the sun off you face and neck. I am reshaping the brim to have a slight slope in front and flattening out the sides (that turn up a little from the tight packing). As another reviewer commented, you don't want to look "dorky"and you definitely don't with this Panatropic hat (even though they call it a "fedora").

Very Nice Hat
I've worn this through the past summer as needed, and it's been cool on my head and cool to look at. Comes very close to fitting my hard-to-fit head (6-7/8 long oval) just right, and that's very nice all by itself.
