SHARK NIGHT - Fairly strong stuff
I can't seem to wean myself off the many "Shark/Croc/Anaconda/SyFy" DVDs that almost drown (sorry) the market over the last few years. This one is no better or worse than many. In fact it is probably a bit better than some in that The shark is visually effective and shown only in brief but effective shock scenes (less is more). The plot has the usual gathering of youth on an island, and a lake, and sharks, and bikinis, but no sex or full nudity. The first 30 mins is pretty slow, and I wondered if I had made a mistake, but it definitley livens up and gets quite sadistic and violent tho not much gore for gore fans. Leading lady Sara Paxton lacks the necessary power and personality but wears a bikini almost throughout! See if you can remember which well known TV series one of the actors appeared semi regularly in. It drove me mad. As I said, perhaps a bit nastier than some, and less gory,(but still lots of blood). So recomended to fans of this kind of movie. Good 1.78:1 transfer (fills my whole TV screen), good clear picture and sound plus optional English subtitles.

Well... what are you expecting?
After watching Shark Night, I was totally disgusted - NO character development, NO story, NO deep and meaningful inner message designed to enrich the soul and really make you think.Only kidding. If you haven't already figured it out, Shark Night is about sharks - sharks that eat people. And, if that's all you're looking for, you shouldn't feel too short-changed.Shark Night starts off with a couple of carefree, randy American teenagers, frolicking around in a salt water lake - guess what happens to them?Anyway, cut to the local collage where a group of seven insanely good-looking teens, all armed with quick wits and iphones, go to the same salt water lake to chill out. Then, when bikini meets shark teeth, there can only be one winner. Okay, so the sharks are all (surprise surprise) water-based, but don't worry, our human heroes find every excuse possible to end up in the water. So, there you have it. If you like your B-movies bloodthirsty and don't take things too seriously, you'll enjoy this (think Piranha 3D or Cabin Fever). Some other reviews have said the special effects looked cheap and there wasn't enough of the sharks. I found the FX okay and the sharks were hardly given any real dialogue to learn, so give them a break, okay?A fun, popcorn-munching, 3/5.

Entertaining but unconvincing
Good acting for a cheap movie, but the storyline was a bit unconvincing. It seems rather unlikely that a chap whose arm has just been bitten off at the shoulder by a shark would be able to move, let alone get up and walk! There were also a few too many baddies for a shark-attack film, but it's still quite an entertaining way to spend a wet afternoon. Just about worthy of 4 stars.

Good 3D Shark Fun, but Region B only!
The motivation for the villains is farfetched, and you'd think there would be enough excitement from just the sharks without having to endure the sadistic villains who got too much screen time, but... overall the movie is good 3D shark fun. Just be warned, when they say it's Region B only, they mean it. Many Blu-rays are described as Region B but actually play on Region A players as well. Not this one. As long as you have a region-free player it's no problem.

Sherman was the best!!!Good boy !!!
another waste of time.As another reviewer said it wont win any Oscars--BUT it just might win the award for a dreadful film[can't think what they call them now].Its a silly story, acted SO poorly and not worth the bother.Story---- a group of teenagers go to an island to 'chill'[why else?]Something very odd almost immediately detected---very odd people one of the girls already knows.Story---that's about it!!From then on we get a lot of very obvious story-lines .The best thing about the film was SHERMAN---the dog!!! Now that was well acted !!

Good Movie, fast service and fair prices
It is a good movie, it is clearly recommended. The price is perfect if you do not want to give overpricing and the service is, as always, one of the best

Okay
Typical budget shark terror flick. No thrills or spills, it is exactly what you would expect from this type of film. Acting average, special effects average, budget low. So long as you don't expect a high quality special effects bonanza you'll find this an okay film to watch.
