It cooks rice perfectly and easily and its a compact size
It cooks rice perfectly and easily. Its a good compact size for my kitchen - with all the additional cooking products I have (air cooker, toasters which seem to be getting bigger etc etc) my kitchen is getting smaller! I have been for many years using the microwave rice pouches which are roughly £1 each. Not only will this save me money but there are no nasty additives. Its easy to clean and once you work out your ratio and cooking times its really easy to cook a meal in. The only thing its lacking (but I wont deduct a star at this price!) is some audible alarm to indicate end of cooking and its tempting to create my own circuit to enable this.

Ideal for one person
Very good, have used it twice to cook brown rice with added vegetables (I have used some frozen mixed peppers and tinned sweetcorn) excellent result.

Compact & Easy to Use - but could be better...
This is a very compact and easy to use rice cooker, but it could be so much better with a simple addition. An on/off mains switch is fitted, together with a separate switch to turn the unit to COOK. There are two associated indicators, one for COOK and one for the WARM function. During cooking the red COOK indicator is illuminated. When cooking is complete, the unit automatically switches to the WARM function, and the amber WARM indicator is illuminated. The WARM function keeps the rice hot until it's served. But with this automation comes a problem that could be solved so easily. There is no audible warning when the unit has completed cooking and has switched to the WARM function. The addition of a beeper or buzzer to warn that cooking is complete would be so, so helpful. Without this the user has no idea when cooking is finished unless the rice cooker is watched constantly. This is the only real downside of the VonShef cooker.Once cooked the rice is fluffy and the grains are separate, but the rice is very al dente. Leaving the cooker on WARM for a few minutes is helpful and will soften the rice further if needed, but this is a case of 'test & adjust', so a bit of experimentation is needed as you get to know your cooker. The unit has a convenient handle so it can be taken to the table and served directly. Cleaning is very easy, with just the non-stick cooking pot and the lid of the unit to be washed up after use.For the price this is a great little rice cooker and is ideal for one or two people. The maximum 1.5 cup capacity will give two people a very reasonable helping each. The only thing stopping a 5* review is the lack of warning when cooking is complete. Why?

I love this little thing.
I didn't think I really needed a rice cooker (I cook for a living) but I wanted to introduce more brown rice, beans and lentils into my diet and figured it would help if I made it as easy as possible. What is didn't expect was this level of effortless quality. Just bung in some measured and rinsed rice with anything else you want to add and turn it on, that's it. Doesn't take up much space and cleaning takes literally seconds. Also the rice is always perfect, every time.

Great rice cooker
I have bought many rice cookers in the past either they are too big or the rice sticksSo I went back to the old fashion way of using a pan on the stove. But when I cook rice in the pan I always cook to much and some rice gets thrown away.I came across this rice cooker. What drawn me to at first was the size as it can be easy stored awayThen the review were also very good.I Decided to give it a chance and ordered it im am writing this review as im am very surprised it is a great machine it cooks the rice to perfection.I used tilda basmati rice 1 cup of rice and I.5 cup of water amd the rice was fluffy not stuck together separate grains. If you need a rice cooker which can cook enough rice for two large serving for two adults people or three small serving then you won't be disjointedVery easy to clean amd can be stored easy in your cupboard or sits nice of the work counter.Great buy

Great little cooker
Great cooker for up to 3 people and great fluffy rice every time. Top tip add a drop of olive oil or rapeseed for even easier tipping of rice out of cook pot and make sure the lid vent is clear of kitchen units while cooking so the steam can vent easily during cooking just like a kettle.I don’t know how but it senses the amounts used and cooks longer for larger amounts. For white basmati I soak for 15 mins before cooking and use 1 & 1/2 measures water to 1 measure rice. For brown basmati I soak again and use 1 & 3/4 water to 1 rice. White tends to take 15 mins to cook before switching to ‘warm’ setting and same amount of brown basmati takes approximately 30 mins presumably because of the extra water.I always tip rice into a bowl and fork over before serving, I think it keeps the cooking pot free of scratches.Careful not to scald yourself when removing the lid as it has very hot condensed steam water on it, I leave it on the sink drainer to cool down and drain then dry with a tea towel after our meal. For me it seems great value for money and a lot better than boiling rice in a pan.
