Schmidt Brothers Kitchen Brass Walnut 7 Piece Set w/Holding Stand

Once in awhile you make an online purchase that's totally fabulous... As in high quality and no way you could buy something equatable at the same price. This was one of those experiences. These are very high quality utensils made of real walnut wood, brass and stainless steel. The utensils are heavy weight and have excellent craftsmanship. It appears to be a set of the quality found at Williams Sonoma, which generally run around $20 per utensil. However, I spent just a little over $20 for the entire set. Also, if you check out other listings from this brand on Amazon you'll see how much they usually run. I also bought a BBQ Utensil by Schmidt Brothers and was equally impressed so it's my new favorite brand for kitchen tools.

I own old grandma's slotted spoon on wooden handle; so when I found something similar to it I decided to purchase this set. The set is fairly decent. It is brushed steel. I would of preferred polished. And is set in beautiful wood handles. Wood is little mismatched and not very fine polished but still OK. The handles have perfect long length. What I don't like is that where handle changes into spoon are very thin. This is making them bendable. Some people might like that; but I prefer them sturdy. Especially big round slotted one is to bendable for my taste. Overall they still seem pretty sturdy and will definitively last for years to come. Why I gave it three stars is the stand. The set comes in beautiful cylinder pressed cardboard box. But inside it was filled with sand and gravel on bottom. It came from the bottom of the stand and it was continuing to fall out when I was trying to clean it. So I looked into it. It has the beautiful stick part of the stand and upper bottom. Problem is that underneath beautiful upper bottom is flimsy plastic container filled with crumbling concrete that keeps falling out from the screw hole in the bottom. The screw was also rusted; probably from the contact with concrete. So I ended replacing weighted plastic container for my own steel cutout circle. Now I don't have crumbs problem any more. So the set is sturdy and beautiful. I would just not count on stand to be usable.

I was SO pleasantly surprised to see how substantial and well built this set is. I also didn’t expect such a nice rack. The wood is handsome! BUY THIS!

Bought this as a gift for my wife. She loves it. Well made good quality item.
