It is very good as a Radio
It is now July 15th, I bought this radio back in April. It is very good as a Radio. TX reports are great and RX is also good with a external speaker. I have this set as a mobile installation using a Yaesu sucker mount on my dashboard and also using a Yaesu ft7800 hands-free car kit,all fully compatible with this model. The 2M is exceptionally good and I have no problems reaching many repeaters. My only quibble is that the transceiver picks up radiation from very close usage of Mobile phones,it sounds like a hiss briefly. You can also use this rig for CB, mid band FM and can also program 4 channels from 27/81 frequencies ,channel 19 included. I use a Moonraker Q800 triband antenna and a Sirio 4000 antenna with a duplexer. Ive thoroughly enjoyed using this radio as a M6.

Radio itself seems good, had good reports so far
Radio itself seems good, had good reports so far, the bad bits are, it dosnt come with a programming cable, difficult and longwinded to program manually, it also has a very loud annoying beep when you switch on and change anything and there dosnt seem to be any way to turn the beep off, for this reason alone I would not recommend buying this radio

Wish I had not been so tight and just bought a yaseu
Cheap rubbish, spend the money and get a yaseu. I have had it about 4months now, the tx audio is terrible, rx audio ok but very tinny, output power is not 50w more like 40, auto am selection has a mind of its own and the tx relays sound like a cat when someone stands on its tail when you key the ptt.Overall I would not recommend this to anyone I know, just think why is it so cheap?

Pretty happy I bought the TYT TH-9800
I gave this 4 out of 5 because of only a couple of issues. it could do with the write up saying some of the programming can only be done via a programming cable which is sold separately. I found my first TH-9800 came with the busy channel lock-out switched on, a massive problem when trying to use repeaters with a constant CTCSS tone. The second problem was that without programming 10 watts via the after market cable the radio selected 50 watts each time the radio was switched on. That could be a problem for Foundation Licence holders. All that aside, I am very pleased with this radio and the TX reports from other hams is very good. The RX side is also very good with a pleasant tone and very little internode problems. I look forward to this radio coming with SSB as I am sure I will add that to my collection.

Good designed unit.
Came across this set by chance. Currently training for my Foundation Licence, started with a handheld unit then found this TH9800 set, works well both in the car and at home, obviously the set will only be as good as the aerial that you use. One of the key points I liked about this set is that the head module can be split from the main set, this enabled me to mount the main box discretely out of the way and then use the enclosed cable to connect the unit head in a convenient location on my dashboard. Only awkward bit is unplugging the data cable from the head unit to use the short cable when I take it indoors and use it as a one piece unit. Otherwise a very good unit so far. One of my colleagues who is already licensed, tells me that it is very similar to a Yaesu unit that he owns with all the buttons doing the same in the same locations.

Works very well , everything you need in the box
Fantastic little radio , exact copy of the yaesu ft 8900, but without the price tag , mic is different. Tested so far on 2/70 repeaters and works flawlessly, with a Watson ranger 9 antenna. Easy to program with chirp, and the programming lead is included in the box , instructions also good , not chinglish , smalle form factor, separation cable and bracket included for neat install , so far so good very impressed, 👍

Insoddisfacente in generale e reso dopo pochi giorni.

Economica e buona
