A great story, but preachy at times
I enjoy following Decker, he’s a good egg. But at times the author’s explanations go on and on, as he presents rather than listen rather than telli FCC But overall a good read

Very good Detective Story
Baldacci is an excellent writer, and like his other books this one holds your attention. The characterization is well developed (It does help if you have read the others with these characters, but he explains enough of the background as to make it unnecessary. You would know what a couple of the references are, but they have no bearing on this book. This is a detective story - which if your reading this comes as no surprise. But it has more layers than many of the writers you are probably familiar with. Amos Decker - the principal character - has snysthesia. Basically, your brain associates things with colours or smells that the average person does not. His has also given him a perfect memory. Kind of interesting and fairly rare - I am a nurse and have never come across anyone with this. It does make the character a bit more real to me, as I know it exists. If you enjoy good writing and especially in a detective format, you will enjoy this. The blurb has done an excellent job of describing what the book is about, so this is more a vote of confidence that you will like the book.

Classic Baldacci storytelling with lots of characters, danger, death, and sleuthing by the Memory Man.
My wife and I recently finished the series' latest installation of the Memory Man, the Fallen. This one's loaded with a plethora of characters, so much so that if I didn't read it in few days, I'm afraid I would be a little lost recalling who's who in the plotline. I find that it's pretty much impossible to pre-guess the bad apples in Baldacci's tales, and it must be an intentional design by the author. Perhaps I'm just not as sensitive to any clues dropped along the way, but usually I can find them and devise a path that is at least close to the unraveling of the suspense in the novels that I read, but not so with this one or the others in this series it seems. Nevertheless, my ineptitude in clue-deciphering doesn't relate to the quality of the tale delivered by the prolific David B., who once again keeps us fairly riveted to the words as they progressively build the drama from page to page. He is quite the story teller, the raconteur as they say in sophisticated parlance. You just gotta love the memory man himself, with his quirkiness and impeccable memory skills, but those skills are challenged by another blow to his cranium, and changes in his perceptions and reactions are what follows, making it a bit more interesting as Decker plods along amidst a destroyed vacation attempt to unravel the complex goings on in this story. A compelling and intoxicating suspense, in typical Baldacci style, the Fallen will not disappoint those who are fans of the genre and/or of the author. In retrospect, it seems like this series could be adapted for a screenplay/movie easily enough, and it almost seems that there is an underlying motive for just that as the violence and the dangerous suspense builds along the way.

Some problems with cds
Cd 4 skips. Cd 10 was glued with very nasty goop to back of the cd folder; could not get it off. Really disappointed. Story was good-what I heard of it.

The best yet!
What an incredible, heart-grabbing, mind-blowing mystery! Amos Decker, along with his partner, is supposed to be on vacation at her sister’s place. Jamison understands Decker’s uniqueness and has a great platonic working relationship with him. While they are there Decker observes some rather disturbing sights in a house that he runs to investigate. Jamison knows there goes the vacation as she refuses to sit on the sideline while Amos chases down leads. Plus, within a short time, the mystery embroils her sister’s family when her husband is killed while at work.Jamison’s 6-year-old niece loses her father on her birthday and that just grips the heart of Amos in so many ways. If you have followed the Memory Man series, you know how this touches Amos very deeply and makes him face some of his own personal losses again. Readers familiar with the uniqueness of how Amos thinks and works will really enjoy the way David Baldacci has Amos going through some neurological changes. These changes cause Amos to think long term and wonder exactly how long he can keep working without losing what memory he has left. The ending of the book is very touching, and I absolutely loved the way its is written! I hope this isn’t the last we see of Decker and Jamison as I enjoy them working together on solving crimes. Zoe, the little girl in the story, really grabbed my heart and I loved how it drew out the heart of Amos. The mystery was top notch and many surprises are in store for those who venture into the book. You don’t want to miss this thriller! If you haven’t read Amos Decker in the Memory Man series, start with the first book titled, Memory Man and catch up in the series before the next novel is released!

Enjoyable Read
Volume 4 of Amos Decker series. This novel has a bit of everything…severalunsolved murders occurring in a city fallen on hard times. Lots of parallel storylines..dead DEA agents, a city experiencing a fentanyl crisis, search for a possible rumoured hidden treasure from several generations back. Very complex interwoven events which only a socially awkward person with a perfect memory such as Amos Decker could make sense of. Worthwhile read!

Interessante
Adorei o livro. Ele é bem maior do que eu imaginava. A leitura é relativamente fácil pra quem tem inglês intermediário. Livro é lindo e com uma história bem interessante, apesar de eu não ter lido os anteriores(mas isso não é necessário, não interfere no enredo desse)

A well crafted story about today's America
I hadn't Read Baldacci for a few years and thought he'd be running out of steam, so this book was a pleasant surprise. I was born, educated and started my career in Chicago and LA but haven't lived in the US now for 48 years. This book told me about what's going down today in a masterful way. Couldn't put it down and read it in one day and one night.

He pasado un excelente rato leyéndolo. Me confieso fan de David Baldacci
