Incredible sound compared to generic strings
I recently bought a low cost practice cello that include some un-named generic brand strings. When I practiced the sound was very tin-ish sounding and always sounded slight out of tune. I wasn't sure if it was just my bad playing or not. A friend told me I should try replacing the strings and see if the sound improved so I ordered a D'Addario Prelude Cello Single A String to test it out rather than replace all the strings at once. I have to say the difference in sound quality is astounding! Now I'm replacing all my strings. If I could rate these more than 5 stars I certainly would!

What quality!
These truly raised my new cello up a notch! The sound in combination with Melos rosin and a new bow have made practicing a true delight. So much value for the money.

Nice strings for my Chinese Cello
I recently bought an inexpensive Cecilio Cello on Amazon because I'm 50 and thought I'd relive my tween years of cello playing without breaking the bank. It's a slow process but I KNEW the sound could be better than the scratching sounds I was getting from the CHEAPEST STRINGS ON THIS PLANET THAT CAME with the cello. Purchased these Prelude Strings based on positive reviews. Wow!! What a difference. Now granted, I do realize that these are not the top of the line strings (those are very expensive- almost more than what I paid for the cello!!!) but by simply changing out the strings, my cello sounds well, like a Cello should sound. The strings are thinner than the original set and therefore easier to press and find the note more easily. It's a win in my book.(Note: I encountered a problem with my C string when replacing the older string and the company was VERY understanding and worked in resolving the issue very promptly and professionally. A+ Customer Service!)If you are a student or a celloist looking to replace strings without selling your blood, this is a great set!

Makes a world of diffence!
I bought my son a used cello (he's been playing for 2+ years, this is the second one we've bought). The cello we bought used from a private party was good, but the strings.... oh lordy. The person selling it had put a cheap set of strings on it and it did not sound very good. I knew from working on my son's first cello that these strings were good and would be a great improvement - and yes, I was right. They made a huge difference in the sound and tone. DO NOT BUT CHEAP STRINGS. These are very good and I'd buy them again.

Brought Child's Instrument to Life
I got my 5 yo a 1/8 cello since he kept experimenting with mine. I found it used on Craigslist for $80 and it sounded just okay. It would do for a child. It had been in storage for a decade, I so decided I should probably get some new strings. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I found what most school orchestras use--this brand. I picked up a set for around $50 without any great expectations. I got them on and to my delight my son's little cello sang like a cello is supposed to! It went from sounding like a functional toy to a real musical tool! If you are in a similar boat, I do recommend these strings. It was worth it to me at least!

Good strings for the budding cellist!
My daughter had outgrown her rented 1/2-sized cello so we bought a used 3/4 sized cello. The cello seemed nice for a student model, but her instructor soon informed me that the G string was having issues holding a tune and was probably in need of replacement. I decided that it would be wise to buy the whole set as I would probably need to replace them all eventually. The D'Addario Preludes seemed to be well reviewed and had a moderate price-point so I went with them. So far, I have only replaced the G string, but what a difference - very stable (tunes well and stays in tune) and has a good full tone. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but for a student grade instrument, these work well. These are a nice sounding string for a moderate price. Coming from guitars, I was a bit shocked at what they get for a set of cello strings but I resisted any urge to buy a set of cheapies. Do your budding cellist a favor and avoid them too. BTW, I was new to stringing an orchestral instrument with a floating bridge, so I searched it on YouTube. I recommend it for anyone who hasn't strung one before.

Nice strings but fits weird
They were nice but they were a little fat to fit in the tuning pegs

2 of 4 broke with first tuning.
I liked the rich sound of the 2 surviving strings compared to what I had on the cello but losing 2 before even a single playing session makes the set not worth buying. Try something else.

Excellent!
I had been using cheaper strings for a while. The A and D string were terribly squeaky so, I decided to change the strings. These strings were highly recommended in the affordable bracket. I'm glad I chose these strings. I have a whole new cello. The sound is amazing, like using a cheap bow vs a quality bow. The quality of the strings make a huge difference. These strings are thicker than what I was using before. It takes a while to get used to the different pressure required to play the strings but, 100% worth it. This might be pointing out the obvious but, all 4 strings need to be changed or the sound is rather odd.

Not what I ordered
These cello strings are an excellent buy for student cellos which make a huge difference to the sets that most entry-level cellos are fitted with. They are size specific so the tension is good on every size of cello. However I ordered a 1/2 size and received a ¾.

Not what I ordered
These are excellent strings and upgrade a student cello which is fitted with it's original strings. They are size specific so the tension is correct for each size cello but I received a ¾ C string when I had ordered a ½ size.

Beware of buying these from Amazon
These are excellent cello strings which are an immediate upgrade for an instrument fitted with it's original set of strings. However I ordered 3 strings for different sizes of cello from this site and only this A-string was the for the cello size that I had ordered.

Made a big difference
I'm an adult beginner, but an experienced pianist and violinist so I hope my review is useful. These strings made a huge difference in tone to my (brand new) "Stentor Student" cello, which is a very basic beginner's instrument. It came with what I reckon were the cheapest possible strings. I bought an A, a D and a G. Easier to play too, as they are easier to depress. Expensive for beginners but I was really encouraged by the sound I could make.
