Q: What's the widest the clamp can open? Looking to build an AR-15 upper and need a vise.

The Proton vise is great for precision work like polishing/filing small parts. But I would not put anything larger than a small frame semi-auto in it to do serious, precision work. For sharpening mower blades sure for other heavy duty task I wouldn't know.

I emailed Proxxon. He told me this vise is made in Taiwan, not China as listed.

Q: How much weight for shipment.

Product weight is 4.74 lbs. plus add about 1 lbs for the shipping carton and packing material.
