Lightweight & well-balanced ceramic-coated non-stick cookware
This cookware is made from aluminum and has a ceramic-coated non-stick cooking surface made from natural sand-derived silicon. It's called "ceramic" due to its slick, glossy texture and appearance. The exterior is a smooth, good-looking black anodized surface and the handles are bare buffed aluminum. The slick coating doesn’t contain PFOA, PFAS, PTFE, lead, or cadmium so it can handle high temperatures without emitting toxic fumes. The entire pans are aluminum including the handles to allow temperatures in an oven up to 500°F.The thicker base is perfectly flat and makes good contact with a glass-top stove, heating quickly and evenly. Heat was good across the pan. It heated up faster than a non-coated aluminum fry pan we have. These are lighter and more maneuverable than steel, stainless, or cast iron. There is no insulation on the handle so it will get hot quickly. The glass lids are all rimmed with metal, and the metal handles are riveted through the glass. The glass is rated to 180°F. The largest fry pan doesn't come with a lid.Possible negatives:*The main detriment here is their fragility: they're not dishwasher safe. I'm tempted to toss a pot in the dishwasher on high heat to see what happens (but the wife says "no"). At present, we use restaurant grade cookware that goes into the dishwasher after every use. Getting used to not tossing it in would take some re-learning so we're considering moving this set into the RV where there is no dishwasher and lighter is better.*Supposedly, aluminum does not get hot enough to achieve a high-quality sear but it did brown some potatoes.*Metal Utensils will scratch the cooking surface.*The thicker base is aluminum. Ceramic cookware with an aluminum base is not compatible with induction cook tops because aluminum is non-magnetic. You would have to use a separate induction disk under each pan. Conclusions:These are similar to Teflon-coated non-stick pans but without the risk of releasing harmful fumes when overheated. However, you are restricted to medium heat (aluminum doesn't heat as much), the use of wooden or silicone utensils, and always washing by hand.If durability and longevity are top priorities, you should explore other options. For our RV which gets only occasional use, they should last a much longer time and would provide quality propane cooking without extra weight.4 stars - 5 stars on construction and quality. Minus 1-star for the qualities of a ceramic surface.

KitchenAid Hard Anodized Ceramic Cookware Set
Very good quality cookware set. The nonstick coating is really effective and cooking requires very little (if any) oil, which at the same time makes it super easy to clean. The outside if finished in black and also looks very nice. All in all a solid cookware set that should last several if used as directed.

KitchenAid Hard Anodized Ceramic VS. Calphalon Unison
We have had the Calphalon Unison pots and pans for several years and have truly enjoyed them. So when I saw these KitchenAid Hard Anodized pans, I figured now was as good a time as ever to put them to the test against Calphalon. Spoiler alert—the KitchenAid pots and pans have moved the Calphalon out of our kitchen!Weight - There was a vast difference between the Calphalon and KitchenAid! The Calphalon have a significant amount more weight to them. This gives them a sturdy but hefty feel, and when adding liquid, the weight only increases, making working with them slightly challenging. Plus, the Calphalon always felt like the weight distribution was off, always more towards the pot than evenly distributed through the handle and pot. The KitchenAid, on the other hand, are incredibly light. Not flimsy. Not Cheap. It's just a nice feeling and good weight distribution.Cleaning - Let me first start by saying - I HATE cleaning pots and pans. So much so that when we got the Calphalon, we opted for the dishwasher-safe pots. The KitchenAid are clearly hand wash only. But here is the honest truth - I don't hate washing pots and pans anymore. Whether it was eggs, refried beans, compote, or anything else, the pots are super easy to clean, and pretty much anything comes off with ease. You need the occasional 30 seconds of soaking with soap, but after that, wipe and clean. It has almost become a game to me, "This is definitely not going to come off" - and then it does! Although Calphalon was dishwasher safe, I believe that the dishwasher wore them down over time, leaving them in not the best condition.Cooking - This is pretty equal, in my opinion. Both sets cook evenly and do a good job distributing the heat source (in our case, gas).Overall, I am beyond impressed with the KitchenAid Hard Anodized pans. As mentioned, I have officially replaced my dishwasher-safe Calapholn with my new favorite KitchenAid pans!

Lighter weight but nice quality
I was in bad need of new pots and pans. We moved to a new house and changed from gas to electric (yuck!) and I have had to learn how to cook all over again. I love the look of these pans though I wish I had seen the green before I got the black. That green is gorgeous! This is a big set that will cover most any need. They came very well packed. I recently got a different set for my son and he had a lid broken right out of the box. This set was packed so much better that I would be shocked if anyone had any breakage associated with this purchase. The pans are lighter weight, but that also means they are easier to handle. They are not so lightweight as to have you fearful of warping. The bottoms feel solid. The enamel is new for me. I have not owned any enamel lined pans before. I am a bit concerned as my medium skillet already has signs of it flaking (see photo, but don't judge my dirty skillet!). This skillet gets the most use of any of the items, but I think this is probably more related to a quality issue than a wear issue due to the location. I am pleased with them overall and I'll be interested to see what they look like in a year or so.
