Best iron I've ever used by far! Ignore the Naysayers.
I've been ironing for many years and find it very therapeutic. I've tried many hotel irons and last had a 1600-watt Shark which I thought was pretty good. The 1850-watt DW9540 takes ironing to a new level and, as someone else pointed out, really is the high-end sportscar of irons. Clothes come out almost like new and markedly better than any other iron I've used. In particular, I've never seen an iron do so well on seams - it is likely due to the vast amount of steam as well as the many nozzles along the center. The weight of the iron makes it so you don't get accidental wrinkles from the fabric bunching up - I wouldn't have expected this, but it is really good at preventing bunching on both sides of items like slacks or sleeves.I nearly didn't buy this model because of people complaining about the trigger. I think it's really well designed and quite useful. You barely have to touch it to get a good amount of steam and it gives you incredible control. Given the large amount of steam that this thing produces you want it for safety as well as to prevent using up all your water too quickly. Also, you can really have at seams and wrinkles to your heart's desire. You can go through a full tank of water for a single item or once you become more efficient probably 3-5 items on a tank.People also complained about the weight. It's not that noticeable. I almost thought that Amazon sent me the wrong thing because the unopened package felt so light. The glide plate on the iron is very smooth and you don't need to really lift the iron that often. The fine tip at the top is noticeably better than other irons at removing fine wrinkles in difficult areas. From using hotel irons, there are many simple, lightweight irons that have nice non-stick coatings and actually perform quite well. This iron is equally smooth and also has some sort of coating, so I don't feel like anything is missing. This iron may occasionally drip a small amount when using lots of steam, but it is nothing compared to the major dripping I've experienced in inexpensive hotel irons.Rowena really pays attention to details. This iron has a specially designed solid and wide base so the iron is incredibly stable when resting upright. All my other irons would quickly wobble and come close to falling off the ironing board with the slightest movement of the ironing board. The cord is reasonably long - as long as my Shark.Yes, the iron restarts in Wool mode after plugging it in, but it's a simple and quick click to Cotton. Warm-up from room temperature up is 5-10 seconds and you can already start ironing if needed. If the iron is already hot, 1850 watts will warm it up in just a couple seconds. My Shark at 1600 watts would sometimes blow my circuit breaker. This iron is very well controlled and while once or twice I might see my room lights instantaneously dim, it has extremely good voltage control and has not once blown my fuse. One minor issue is that the manual says to turn off the iron before unplugging - there is no off button except for auto-off, so I still have to resort to quickly pulling the plug like I would do with all my other irons.Out of the box the iron looked perfectly new, but there were some minor calc deposits that were coming out. Not sure if this was from factory testing or what. A 3-min calc-clean cycle made it all go away completely.Very well worth the $110 I spent. Ups my ironing for many years to come, noticeably improves my clothes over other irons, and the therapeutic benefit of this insanely good iron is worth every penny. Ignore all of the naysayers out there. This iron rocks!

The Top of The Line in Irons
I have owned Rowenta Irons for over 20 years. I bought this iron in May 2024 to replace an Iron I purchased in 2019. If we had not been clumsy with the old Rowenta, we would not have needed the new one. This new one is amazing. it heats 1850watts. It has 400 holes in the plate, and the steam button gives steam every time you touch it. It is better than the other model and still has all the capabilities that you expect from a Rowenta iron.If you have never had a Rowenta iron, you are missing something. These are the top of the line in irons.

Rusting
This iron gets hot, has a lot of steam and it is heavy (which is good and bad). It does a really fabulous job pressing/steam on a quilt I’m making. After a few months it started spitting rusty water staining a new expensive cover. The irons cleaning system doesn’t work and I always empty it of water when storing. As it’s still in warranty I contacted rhe manufacturer. I need to get a box and materials to pack and drive to UPS to return for repair. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks just to evaluate. So no iron for what a month ?? means I need to buy another. I have used Rowenta irons for many many years. This stinks as I need to buy another. Very very frustrating for this price point.

Does it All!
I recently replaced a 15+ year-old Rowenta model that I could not repair even with YouTube videos and posting to justask.com (I think that's the name).I spent a long time searching various websites and finally chose this model.Pluses:1. I love that it has more steam holes than my previous version and I almost enjoy ironing (not my favorite chore).2: It has a very large water reservoir.3: It's constructed so that one can iron clothing that has "tight spaces" i.e., between buttons on the front of a button-down shirt.4: It has a very long cord that DOES NOT retract. I had Rowenta that did and that feature was the first to stop working.5. It heats up quickly and the steam feature is ready in no time. It also cools down quickly.Plus and Minus: Depending on your strength it's heavier and larger than my previous Rowenta (what isn't these days).Minuses:1. It has five settings from which to choose and you have to press the button to determine which one you want. In other words, you can't choose something that may require more steam than cotton but not as much as linen.Neither Plus nor Minus: The International Guarantee booklet is truly international. It includes: Spanish-USA only and Spanish not USA, Dutch, Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Bulgarian, Chinese Traditional, and Arabic to name a few. If you're looking to learn a new language starting with reading and writing this may be the place to start.

Steam iron
This iron really gets the job done. Just be mindful that it steams the water really fast so keep some near by.

Very heavy.
Iron great but is very heavy. I just missed the return window or I would be sending it back due to weight. I love the ironing results but struggle with the wieght. Also too large to fit in my iron storage rack.
