Great Beginner's Drone
I'll start this by saying I had never owned any other drone before but was efficient with helicopters.I bought this for my 5 year old son because it was inexpensive and something i felt like he could begin on to see if he had further interest.Quality:The packaging was fine but I am pretty happy with the quality of the drone itself. Has a good weight to it and it doesn't feel cheap in your hands. (unlike some others in this price range that feel like toys.)First Flight:After charging the battery and putting on the blades I took it for a test run. For this you need to do the following:*Open the DC-14 app on your phone*Turn on the drone*On your phone, go to networks and join the DC-14 SSID you should see the camera appear in the app.*Turn on the remoteMy first flight was dialing in the trim to get it to hover. Out of the box this thing was going nuts so it took a whole battery to get it to something you can control. Here's what I did:*On the controller press left stick down and away, right stick down and away and the drone blades should start spinning. On the left stick SLOWLY go up and your drone will come off the ground. From here adjust the trim on the right stick until it can hover, that means if its going forward, press back back back until it slows. and if its veering right, left left left until it straightens out etc.Once adjusted, you should be able to hover. My first flight this took pretty much the entire battery charge.Initial Thoughts:After I dialed this in, i took it for a couple of runs. Its very easy once you learn left stick to do height/turning, right stick to actually move. The range is so-so. I was able to go about 2 houses in each direction and maybe 80 feet in the air before i felt like the controls were getting away from me. That's fine as I don't plan on using it for surveying or anything.Camera quality is very good and nice and steady.Battery life is ok, I think i got 10-12 minutes on my first 4 runs. The Verdict:This was bought specifically for my son to learn on, his first couple of runs he was a little twitchy and crashed into our fence but nothing was damaged, just the arms on the drone bent. When this happens it shuts itself off anyway. On one run, we bent a blade guard, easy enough to replace from the spare parts that come in the package.Overall, for the price paid, I'm VERY happy with this product and my son is learning to control it more and more every weekend. I may be buying another one because I get jealous watching him when he doesn't wanna let me play. Will def buy again.

Great drone but camera/controller needs work.
This is what I would like to see for upgrades to the remote. The remote pictured is on a current sold Drone. It has extra buttons to this DC-014 Drocon done. But I explain the additional buttons and such needed to the drone. Keep in mind the buttons can be utilized for camera control functions with pushing a button to switch the controller to camera control mode instead of drone control mode. Also keep in mind, people like buttons that allow for aerial acrobatics. Such as the corkscrew, inverted corkscrew, barrel roll (3d flip) or inverted barrel roll (inverted 3d flip). As well as better control mechanisms for camera operation. I heavily suggest utilizing one of the buttons for when powered on, it puts the drone into idle. Also allowing for idle through forward back on the left thumb stick, or backward forward on the left thumb stick. For easier start up and motor control. Having the idle function in both forward, back and back, forward as well as the idle button allows for more user friendly controls. The spin wheel and switch mechanism can be utilized for both camera operation during camera control mode and pushing the button to switch to drone control mode for drone height flying control. The 4 bumper buttons should be utilizable for aerial acrobatics/trick flying. The triggers can be utilized for picture or video. switching between drone control and camera control should cause the drone to hover in place or fly a pre-programmed flight path while utilizing the camera function. Also extend the under motor legs so a 360 degree camera swivel can be mounted on the under and over side of the drone. Make the 360 degree swivel mouth have a 180-270 degree swivel for vertical camera turn and the 360 swivel horizontal swivel. The LED lights should be color changing lights that could be utilizable for speed and battery life indicators. As well as a switch over mode to allow colorful light display during night flying that doesn't indicate speed or battery life. Mostly my only issue is the quality of control and the functionality of the controllers number of buttons, mixed with the functionality of button lay-out. The issue I faced was the dual outward sideways angled idle function. Made it harder to understand start up and less enjoyable to utilize. Looking forward to the advanced model.P.S. utilizing top and bottom security style 360 degree 270 degree swivel mount cameras would be and easy means of getting the swivel mounting for the cameras on the drones. I recommend top and bottom mounted swivel cameras as well as the front 180 vertical axis camera already on the drone. Just taking it from the 90 to 180 degree swivel at the very least.

Good beginner drone
The media could not be loaded. This is my first time buying a drone. I wanted to practice on one before thinking of buying a more expensive one for my hiking trips.First off - the instruction manual is very easy to follow and use, as is the remote control. The drone assembly is quick - and even contains a few spare blades and a screwdriver (to open the battery case, AAA remote batteries are not included). The drone battery charges very fast, under an hour, and one charging cycle is good enough for about 5-6 mins of drone flight/use I'd say.The drone build quality is quite good for the price and the color looks good (I got the red one). For the first attempt, I flew this indoors and hit the wall/ objects a few times. But the drone and its blades survived the early accidents. The drone is quite responsive and not overly sensitive to the remote control - I could make it hover, change direction, change height etc - all at the very first attempt. The lights help to figure out which is the front and which is the back of the drone, so that is very useful. Be warned, the drone blades sound like a loudly buzzing fly and it scared my cats away lol. Nothing too bad - even if the whirring sound is somewhat alarming at first, it is perfectly normal once one gets used to it. I did not notice any overheating or functionality issues tied to this sound. It looks good so far though I might consider buying a couple of extra drone batteries in the future if I decide to take this along on a hike. I am still learning more about the video/ camera feature, though the video/ photo quality itself looks good. This is a lot of fun overall, my own little personal UFO! Cant wait to fly this outdoors and take cool aerial nature photos and videos.
