Great, not Good
This is a comprehensive look at German armored vehicles, in all its widely varied splendor. It's said that when eating/using a pig, poor people use everything but the squeal. The Germans in this case, reused almost everything they had or captured, including French vehicles and Soviet weaponry. Until reading this volume, I didn't really realize how deeply true this was. For example, most of us know that the Germans started rearming their Panzer 4s and StuG 3's with a longer-barreled 75 mm guns in spring 1942. What I didn't realize until reading this book, is that those removed short-barreled 75mm guns were often remounted on halftracks and armored cars. They also reused a lot of obsolete vehicles, mounting more effective weapons on them, such as turning Panzer 1's into self-propelled anti-tank mounts. While this re-use everything approach undoubtedly served the desperate-for-anything Germans well, it also created a logistical nightmare in trying to keep spare parts available for repairs. The book itself is printed on high quality paper, and there are copious, well-annotated b/w pictures of the equipment, pictures that you haven't likely seen before. The book is organized by vehicle-type (tanks, half-tracks, flakwagens, recovery vehicles, etc.) I own several other of Mr. Doyle's books, and he is a true expert on this subject matter. Five stars.

Not Jentz and Doyle but agreat reference
A lot of info packed into 300+ pages. Some subjects more covered than others e.g. Stug III gets about 15 pgs while Tiger I gets 5. Nonetheless a great book to pull of the shelf and brush up on some of the myriad armoured vehicles of the Wehrmacht. Beautifully produced with high quality gloss paper and hundreds of photos, many from the Patton museum which are new to me. Kudos to Amazon. Received here in Asia in just over a week!

You need this for German Vehicle Catalogue
I have come across many good books on German armor and vehicles. This book is like the Bible for such research. All variants of tanks and vehicles give fantastic stats and capabilities. A must have!

Good not great
The book is a nice, compact compendium of German armor from WWII. Purists will always argue that no volume is truly "complete", but this one is fairly thorough, even to the point of including the mini "Goliath" tracked demolition vehicle. (BTW, does anyone market a "Partial Guide" to anything?)The copious number of black and white photos is a big plus; paper quality and hence photo reproduction quality is good. There is a lot of worthwhile information in the lengthy photo captions, and these are not the "same old" pictures that appear in every history of the panzers. So why only four stars? First, be aware that there are no line drawings, no artist conceptions, and no color whatsoever. You just get (lots of) historic bw photos. Second, as other reviewers have noted, organization is poor. There is no index, some data tables lack headings, units of measure are inconsistent, etc.Would have given this 3.5 stars if I could --- a B minus.

Beautiful book
Lovely hardback book with lots of illustrations and information. I was glad it had a good ratio of pictures to information; I was worried it would have too much text and not enough illustrations to demonstrate the vehicles, or else too many illustrations to make it educational, but it was just right.

Comprehensive.
A great reference book. A hefty tome but not too big. Quite detailed. B+W pictures is the only drawback imo.

A small book on German Equipment used in World War II
The book to begin is General Information but highly illustrated! Not all categories of equipment was entirely covered but what do you expect for $24.30! Still the book is informative that will cause anyone to increase further research into individual equipment such as tanks down to assault vehicles! It's a nice book for anyone curious about German World War II equipment to look at! I am satisfied on my purchase!!
