I was very excited to try this product, as I do enjoy some smoke in my whiskey (at times, especially with the less flavorful ones), but had found the butane gas based ones to be a bit too cumbersome. I loved how this was an electric one that was rechargeable, making it portable as well, with no need to be near an electric outlet for me to use it.I have used this a few times now, and so far, I have been very impressed. It is easy enough to load the wood chips (it comes with 6 different flavors already in the package, but you can obviously use your own if desired), power it on (it is a long press for 3 seconds), then tap the power button one more time to start the smoke. The smoke appears within a second or two, and the machine auto-stops after 20 seconds (or on your button press, if you so desire manually). As you can see from my photo, it builds up a very nice smoke inside; I like to leave the machine on top of the glass for a minute or so to let the smoke soak into the whiskey a bit more as well. The machine obviously doesn't provide an airtight surface, so some of the smoke escapes; however, it is better than just removing it immediately in my opinion.With this being electric, this is just so much easier to use compared to the butane gas ones, and based on my initial impression, these work just as well. I was very impressed at how fast the smoke came and the flavor that it added to the whiskey.The only negative that I wanted to point is that the two accessories that the product comes with - the cleaning brush and the spoon - are just meh. I ended up just throwing both of them away in favor of using something that we already had around in our home; though, I didn't take any stars off for it since it isn't really related to the main smoker functionality that I have been very happy with.As one additional note, this actually looks like the same product as one that is sold by another seller, with this one being priced lower; and thus, I would recommend going with this seller.

The media could not be loaded. I got this for my husband to try a smoked whiskey. I have to say that I haven't yet tried it on whiskey but I did try it on cheese. I know, that isn't what it was made for but I am all about multipurposing things. I have cold smoked cheese and I have a similar small thing to this but it requires a tube, etc. and it is just not as easy to use. To do the cheese with this, since i just had a small amount of cheese that I wanted to try it on, I took a wide mouthed pint jar and set this on the top. Some smoke got through but that is to be expected since this doesn't have a seal or anything and isn't truly meant for this. I redid it several times and at the end I sealed the jar and stuck it in the fridge for a few hours. You could redo it as often as you wanted to get the smoke flavor you want. I think this is a great function of this item and the design works well to give you flexibility for what you want to do. My cheese tasted great and my husband and nephew were both impressed with it. I do want to say they should make sure to mention not to hold the top in your hand while you are trying it out as I burned my finger turning it on as I didn't realize/think about the lighter portion being where it was when I was testing the buttons. It has a felt pad in it, pictures show two. In the ad it says they are a protection against residue but I couldn't find anything about them in the instructions as to what they even were. So I don't know how or when you are supposed to use them. So, I didn't. But the machine starts up quickly. I love that it is rechargeable and doesn't require anything besides the machine and wood to work. I like that it comes with a variety of wood to try and they little spoon and cleaner. Currently $24 is a great value for this item. I really am glad I got it as it is just as easy as put wood in, set on glass, start, enjoy.

While this is sold for use on beverages, I picked it up to use for cold smoking cheeses. The unit has a short on time, which is likely fine for drinks, but for cheese it takes a couple of presses to infuse the smoke into the cheese.It is simple to clean and easy to prep and use. It feels a bit cheap, but I am not afraid of dropping it.

We love smoked old fashioned’s. This is a different concept to my other smoker kits in that it’s self-contained and it does not use an external torch. The obvious upside of that is that I no longer need to keep track of a separate torch or the butane to refill it. The kit is very complete, providing a variety of wood chips. It also has cleaning brush, a charging cable, and a spoon for loading chips.The instructions are so poorly translated that they are next to useless, but there is not a lot you need to know. I charged it until the red light went green, which I assume means a full charge. A long press of the power button produced a blue light, which turns out to indicate a sort of standby state. Another short press of the power button, and dense smoke poured out of the bottom and into the glass.I’m usually making several smoked old fashioned’s at once, so I keep a stack of coasters handy. Once I have one glass loaded with smoke, I put a coaster on top to keep the smoke in while I do the next glass. This is ideal for that process. I’m impressed at how quickly it kicks out the smoke.I was concerned about it being difficult to clean, but it really is very easy. I let it cool completely then lift out the filter basket and tamp out the ashes and partially-burned wood chips. The metal-bristled brush in the kit works to clean the filter completely. There is a sort of filter underneath the basket that is not mentioned in the instructions or in the ad, so I have no idea whether it’s needed or packing material.I haven’t had this smoker long enough to guess how long it will hold up, and I’ve never seen anything quite like it, but it seems well-designed and sturdy. I will update my review if anything different develops.
