SIB: The East India Company (PB): The World’s Most Powerful Corporation

Superbly lucid and readable
The style adopted here is almost the same as the other books on economic history by the author. But this particular book explains a bit more logically the advent of EIC and it's worldwide profiteering and so also the power it enjoyed. A must read for history lovers.

Superficial. Poor Analysis at the end
This short book by Tirthankar Roy is interesting in that it presents us with a few different aspects of the East India Company. The focus is on the company's founding and its transnational nature. He also highlights aspects of its internal conflict, such as company management and how it allowed individuals to practice private trade. His coverage of the transformation to a ruling, imperial enterprise is superficial, as in the concluding chapter analysis. I believe he drew a few incorrect conclusions. Read the book for the first few chapters. He could have done better.

A masterpiece
A beautiful, informative and articulate history of collusion between European and Indian business on Indian soil...The book very informatively explains the reason of colonial aggression from mere corporate aggression by Britons and the structure of Indian Inc during the period. In short,a master piece deserving a place in the heart of any person who loves history, business and literature.

Good book for history aficionado
I was a history student and have done my post graduation in it. Tirthankar Roy was a go to and a well revered author when it came for economic history. I always enjoyed his writing. Sans jargon, he was able to put forward his views and in very simple manner.Coming from that point of view, this book is not exactly a scholarly work. But someone who is interested in history as a subject and wants to read more about the company which ruled India for quite few years, this book can work as a good starting point. Three stars from a history student perspective.
