SCUBAPRO Galileo HUD Hands-Free Diving Computer with Transmitter

Price dropped $400 (I paid the $1k) so I took the chance despite other reviews of it not turning on out of the box. And the one I got didn't:(Scubapro says it's factory packaged in a deep sleep mode to save battery life to help prevent this problem, BUT there's no telling how long the item you receive has been sitting on a shelf.The paper instructions that come with it definitely are extremely limited. But, there's a full manual available in PDF online, so not a big deal (go Green, right? :)Not totally giving up on this product, tho. Seems sturdy, and the concept is definitely the future. And I'm encouraged by those who have received a working unit and have over a 100 dives with it. Just need to figure out a way to avoid getting one stuck in deep sleep mode again.Big let down, but I think it's a matter of shelf age, not the quality of the product itself.

It does work well. No issues with initializing unit like others had said. It does display but for some reason a wrist mount seems better. You literally see your tank pressure drop with every breath. If u have any anxiety don't get this. Love the compass and it's display but if u get any fogging you loose ability to read it. Dosent happen much if your mask is proper, but it did happen to me in a quarry with heavy temp swings.

This is an incredible addition to your diving gear. You always have access to your critical data without having to grab your gauges or bring your watch up. It is pricey, but well worth it. You get air integration and a well built instrument.At first it seems to take over your right eyes view, it very quickly you get use to it and don’t notice it is there u til you need the information.

Complete garbage.. instruction manual needs to get a lot better to suck.. says “fully charge before turning on. or will not exit deep sleep mode”... then manual says “ must be turned on to charge... called customer service and guy said ‘ guess charge then turn on “.. 1st one I ordered just kept flashing scuba pro logo... would not turn on... 2nd one flashed logo.. went to turn it on and screen went completely dark.. for 1400.00 $ it should work and work well.. customer support and manuals are complete joke... SCUBAPro should be ashamed.

Well, I spent the money and got it for the features and fact I could eliminate a console hose from my setup. Basically, the ScubaPro Galileo HUD sucks! Advertised features can't live up to price point; specifically the connection via transmitter to display tank pressure. Tested fine at home. At dive site, wouldn't stay paired. Cancelled dive. Relocated transmitter thinking it may help. Tested at home fine. Next day, at dive site wouldn't pair at all. Tried 5 times, following instructions to the letter. No connection. Another cancelled dive. POS! Don't waste your money. Buy a wrist computer with a reliable transmitter like Shearwater. I'm going back to my Oceanic Pro Plus console. Just going to have to deal with the hose dangling.

Full disclosure. I was given a very significant discount on this product when it first launched due to my status as a dive professional.First off I will say that I absolutely love this concept, and this is by far the best computer I've ever used *when it works.*I'm a dive instructor and tech diver, and having my depth, time, NDL, and remaining air hovering to my top right is awesome. I very quickly got to the point I didn't notice the screen unless I was looking for it. I even occasionally found myself looking at my wrist computer forgetting that I even have the HUD on.They did a lot of things right. Air Integration in the first Gen is pretty rare in dive computers. I love that it has GPS and even gets the time from the satellites without me having to update it. I can also theoretically key track of multiple tanks. As an instructor with multiple sets of gear as well as my doubles and sling for tech it would be nice to have the option of switching transmitters. More on the AI later...And the whole thing just feels like the future.But when they do so well in so many areas, it's so the more glaring when they do something wrong.First off is the requirement for a dual-lens mask. That stinks. I bought mine when they were first released on the promise that they'd make an adapter for single-lens Frameless masks. They did not. Instead Scubapro released a $180 Frameless mask that fits the mount. That's not the same thing at all.I also have to engineer a solution to get it to fit on my full face mask. I shouldn't have to be Jerryrigging with a bent piece of aluminum and some screws to use my $1700 computer with my $1400 mask. That's outrageous.Next is the Air Integration. It's a great feature, but of the 200 or so dives I've used the computer, exactly 3 have had AI working. It loses pairing easily and it's almost impossible to get it to work again. I thought I had a lemon, but everyone I know with the computer has the same issue.There's a reason scubapro started including the transmitter with the base unit instead of charging extra. People were livid they paid extra for AI that simply doesn't work 90 percent of the time.Then there's the compass. It straight-up sucks. After calibration, it's reliably 30-40 degrees off. Declination where I live is 3.6 degrees, so that's not the problem. When I called about it, Scubapro said I may need to learn to better read and use a compass. My degree is in Geography and I teach underwater mapping and survey and field navigation. I'm published for field mapping I've performed. I know how to use a compass better than the scubapro techs.But the lack of quality customer service is to be expected from any Johnson Outdoors company. I used to work in the Marine industry and Hummingbird and Minn Kota were famous for their lack of support.And then there's the power save mode. It's easily the worst feature of any product I've ever used. If it gets low on battery, you can't charge it or turn it on. The logo just flashes while charging and you have to send it in to Scubapro for service.All that being said, I still use it. I've used it every day for the past 2 weeks, and will use it again tomorrow.For the price I paid for it I can't complain too much. AI isn't a dealbreaker for me, I've got a better compass on my wrist computer (Garmin Descent), and I now know to keep it charged in the off season. The depth and time hovering in my vision is enough to keep me using it.But if I'd dropped over a thousand dollars on this unit I'd be mad as hell.

Works perfectly but does not work on all scubapro double window masks as it indicates. It wrinkles the seal on a trufitDon’t let battery die or you’ll be sending it in. It will go into deep sleep mode and only flash a logo. Will need to be woke up at factory. Charge every week.

read other reviews and was a little concerned but decided to try well first off no user manual had to download from scubapro 94 pages worth plugged it in as directed and all i got was a flashing scubapro logo so back it goes glad i paid with amazon card so easy refund
