Beautiful Perla
I was really skeptical about buying this bike due to all the bad reviews. But to my surprise my bike arrived no damage whatsoever and my husband put it together quickly with no issues I have rode it with no issues and she is so beautiful! So happy with my Perla schwinn bike! Can’t wait to take it camping on all the trails!

Bent rim that made it through QC
The media could not be loaded. Update 12/12/23 - Schwinn was excellent, they immediately jumped on the issues and replacement parts are already on the way! The bike seems to be pretty good quality, with great paint finish.I just unboxed (on 12/10/23) a schwinn that I bought for my wife as a Christmas present. We got it all assembled, and when we inflated the tires, the rear inner tube exploded. Oh well, stuff happens, went to Walmart and bought a new tube figuring that would be easier than waiting for one from Schwinn. After installing it we realized that the rim is badly bent and need to be replaced. There's no impact marks and the box wasn't damaged, it's just made wrong. I have reached out to Schwinn but unless they approve a replacement for the rear rim I'm stuck giving my wife an unrideable bike for Christmas.

Schwinn bikes are Chinese made junk
My daughter needed a bike for getting around her college campus. Since anything that's not bolted down is stolen immediately, we didn't want to drop a ton of $ on a bike. She had a single gear beach cruiser that we upgraded to this 7 speed Schwin cruiser. The entire bike just feels cheap. The bolt that secures the handle bar in place stripped immediately while trying to tighten it. Had to purchase a screw extractor to remove the screw and replace with something higher quality. The brakes are nearly impossible to set correctly. The break line tension between the calipers either leaves too much space for the brake pads to actually make contact with the wheel, or it's too tight and sits firmly on the wheel causing it to rub continuously. The gear shifter is just above the right handle bar grip (the grips slide and move around whenever you're holding onto them). Whenever you engage the rear brake lever, you inevitably twist the gear shifter, causing the gears to shift while trying to brake. Overall, very disappointed with this purchase. I know you get what you pay for, but Schwin bikes have become junk. At least I won't have to worry about anyone stealing this bike.Update: the bike has never been able to be ridden. Schwinn will not sell me a new bolt for the handlebar headset. Not that it makes any difference. It's impossible to tighten the headset enough to keep the handlebars from slipping while riding it. Still a giant piece of garbage.

Large frame too big for 5' 4"
My daughter is 5' 4". The description says it's good for riders 64 inches to 74 inches. That is too wide a range for a single bike frame to accommodate. The frame is 17 inches which is considered large and ideally is good for people who are 5'9" to 6' tall according to a bike frame chart I found on the internet. When my daughter sat on the seat, she can only touch the ground on her tiptoes while leaning bike over. So it is much too big for her height. So we had to return the bike since she needs a small frame bike.As far as assembling the bike, I am somebody who has never worked on a bicycle in my life. While it is doable, the bike comes with NO TOOLS to put it together. It's not like IKEA furniture where all the tools are included. So you better have a good assortment of Allen wrenches, regular wrenches, and screwdrivers ready. A bike rack like the kind you see at a bike store would also be extremely handy otherwise you're trying to assemble a bike while it's lying on its side. But if you have a bike rack at home then you probably already know how to put together a bike. With my zero experience, I was able to put this together in about two hours. The instructions are not that clear due to my inexperience. It comes with all the difficult parts already put together. You just have to install the front wheel, front fender, fork, seat, and pedals. Not that hard now that I've done it once. The hardest part was putting together the front brakes. I accidentally pulled apart the front brake calipers while inserting the wheel. It took me a long time to figure out how to put them back together at the right tension so that it would grab the wheel properly without rubbing the wheel all the time.

Not put together well
Bike arrived today. The color of this bike is unmatched. Seems to be sturdy. Upon building I found that the bicycle chain was somehow wrapped into part of the frame on the pre installed portion. Hubby looked for a master link on the chain when he got home from work and there isn’t one. Nothing we can do, so she goes to my local bike shop this weekend in hopes of becoming road worthy.

Great value, beautiful bike!
I read reviews and was not surprised by this bike. It is built solidly as I would expect from Schwinn and was not crazy hard to put together. I did have to adjust the derailer and it was simply a matter of turning 2 screws. Instructions are in the manual for everything you need to know and there is a customer support number provided as well.Ride quality was good. Seat is comfortable, though the seat is white so shows dirt easily. Brakes were noisy at first but after several rounds of not hard braking I was able to build up enough on the rims that they are quiet now. Gears shift easily after the easy adjustment.I purchased accessories including a basket for the front and it was easy to fit these as the design can accommodate a large basket in front. My bike did have some scuffing (can easily buff out) and a few minor dings. I plan on contacting Schwinn to see if they make a touch up kit like you would get for a car. This does not bother me as it was overall I'm good shape upon arrival. It does include wheel and front/rear reflectors which is something I wondered before I got it. Tires needed minor inflation so be prepared for that.I will update my review if anything changes, but I am happy with the Perla. The "blue" is definitely a mint/sea foam color which is my favorite. I recommend the bike!
