The media could not be loaded. I have just received this grill today and I am very pleased with it.Advantages:Setting it up takes only a couple of minutes. This felt like magic as i have used a charcoal BBQ before and al the challenges that come with them. This grill uses very few charcoal pieces for a relatively big BBQ. Even after BBQing there were plenty of charcoals left. One of my top like for this grill is the fact this grill has a nob, (which is powered by either AA batteries or power cable depending on if you are in the park or your back garden) to control the heat that you require to BBQ. Thats right, you can control how much heat your food needs from a press of a button.Disadvantages: I was also actually interested in the smokeless feature as also this is included among the qualities of the grill, but I did see smoke. This was with me still buying the very expensive smokeless charcoal. Above all, I still think it is still possible to reduce the smoke if they operate the grill on the lower mode. But, because of the way the grill is designed, I highly doubt it is possible to avoid the smoke 100% especially if the meat is fatty. Because it is from the fat that the smoke will come. If not from that then from whatever debris that falls down from the meat being BBQ.Conclusion:I think the 435 XL Mandarin grill is worth every penny. From today and on wards, I will most definitely be BBQing every week, come summer, winter or spring, 52 weeks a year! Many thanks to amazon for selling this product on your website. I cannot say enough good things about this grill! I bought it to replace an old gas barbecue that was quite bulky and cumbersome, where I was used to waiting for a good 20 - 30 minutes for it to be ready to cook on. With the Lotus Grill it honestly takes about 5 minutes as the fan does a cracking job of getting the fire going.Before purchasing I was worried that I would have to use the charcoal that Lotus suggests (I believe their own brand) but in reality any type has worked just fine, alongside a good quality lighter fluid. I was also wary of how long the battery would last for the fan but I’ve now had it for a year (over 30 bbqs i reckon) and I haven’t changed it yet.It’s also really easy to clean. One thing to note - I have the XL version and although the whole surface is large (fits about 10 burgers at once) it is only the metal disc in the middle that gets really hot for cooking, as opposed to warming/slow cooking. So in reality you can cook 4 burgers at a time and keep the other bits warm around the edge.

Possibly the most awesome BBQ i've ever used. yes its pricey but its worth it. looks really stylish, uses little charcoal and can be ready to cook in under 5 minutes. took this on a camping trip and it was just so easy to use-very little fuss in setting up. for camping it was my wife and 2 teenagers-any more and you would need to top up the charcoal but its a pretty simple process. also took it to my friends house for bbq and got loads of compliments on it along with how quickly its ready to cook. only negative is the carry case-the strap is quite slim and can feel uncomfortable carrying so bear that in mind. would strongly recommend buying the charcoal and lighters to go with it.

Need some help, loved the bbq , after using first time the fat caught alight , and burnt the bowl and rack , tried so hard to get it clean and looking new again , any advice please

Lotus is a great brand, this looks smart and the fan will soon heat coals and keep them that way. I did return this item though in favour of one that was the same but cheaper. Be aware that this product is shipped from Germany and you'll have to pay for the return which, in my epxereince, was a painful process with inadequate intrustions and comms from the seller.

What a fantastic BBQ, it cooked food for 8 in no time with just one filling, (old bbq donated to friend), build quality is very good, fan quiet and yes you really can pick it up and move it when it's cooking and the weather changes,Easy clean by hand or machine, yes it's a bit costly but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and this is value for money. With size and colour options available, not to mention all the extras available, this is the BBQ you really need to consider.

Superb piece of kit, put it in back of the car and took it to an air show, had so many people asking about it, it sat on the grass and didn't burn it or anything. The grill was easier to clean than I imagined.The coals do burn out quicker than you might expect even after you turn the fan off so it may need to be refilled if you plan on cooking a lot of food so keep more fuel handy. For example if you cook a batch of sausages and burgers, by the time they are done the fuel won't last much longer after that.The Lotus lighter gel is also great, it's expensive but very easy to use and you don't need much.

Had our first BBQ on this grill today. Seems very well made compared to a cheapy we bought this time last year and which required modifying before it would work then when we got it out to use this year broke and no spares were available.This Grill, though not cheap has a full list of spares available. Having used it for the first time today I'd be surprised if we need to rely on them though.It lit quickly with the recommended gel and charcoal, with almost no smell or smoke to irritate the neighbours, stink up your clothes and give you sore eyes and throat.We were cooking on it within five minutes of lighting it. We tried it with and without a Teflon mat. It produces slightly less BBQ flavour with the mat as one would expect but still cooked our food nicely.Very impressed so far.
