On the underside, is there a 1/4 inch screw so that you could mount the entire cage onto for example a tripod?

There are two 1/4 inch holes at the botom of the cage but they are in a central position. but at 1.5cm from the front and 1,5cm from the back at the bottom of the cage. you can try to mount it to a tripod or monopod but the cage does not rest securly on the tripod. it wobbles . the 1/4 holes are drilled into the base of the cage. there are no brass inserts like you would find on the bottom of your camera. The aluminium the cage is made from is very soft. it is very very easy to tread the mounting 1/4 holes on the bottom on the cage. you have to use a mounting plate at an additional cost for the cage to be mounted securly. you can not just mount the cage on a tripod with what you get in the packege.. this was not made clear when i bought one.

Its 17cm if you allow for the mounting bracket or 7 inches if you don't

Does this swivel to prevent the camera shaking when filming? for smooth footage..

No it's not a gimbal, the cheapest one you're going to find suitible for a mirrorless/small dslr would be the Zhiyun crane at roughly £600.
