It is not insulated, we do not recommend insulating, but rather put a heat lamp inside. if it gets too hot, you run the risk of bacteria buildup.

Is the floor of this coop suitable for deep litter method?

You will have to add a board to the bottom of the doors to keep the litter in, but it worked great for me last winter with that addition
