I deliberated for a couple of months before making the decision to buy. It was a choice of this, a Richeson Sienna or a range of much cheaper options from Meeden. In the end it was a toss up between this large Ugo pochade or the Sienna. The cost of both are comparable by the time you buy the glass pallete and two side trays. The various reviews citing some concerns over quality inspection made me cautious but I needn’t have worried. The build and material quality is more than worth the cost. I was also worried that this might not be big enough, particularly the palette but it’s more than big enough. I’vevattached it to my old camera tripod without any issues and it feels very stable although I might still invest in a heavier tripod at a later date. It is a lot of money but well worth it. I’m in two minds whether I need to get the glass palette as it will add weight but good to know that I can easily swap it out when needed. As you can see from the photos, it has a firm grip on my acrylic paper pad. I’ll report back later once it’s been used but so far very very pleased and glad that I went with this over other options. *update* I’ve since bought the glass palette and side tray which improves and already amazing product. The glass palette adds weight but the side tray is very light. I went with K&F concept tripod in preference to Ugo branded which is £100 cheaper and higher spec.

An amazingly well made pochade! Beautiful construction, and great functionality. I think the finish is excellent - and while it is pricey, you can tell it's made of good quality materials.Easy to use - and surprisingly lightweight

Love love love this easel ....so simple to set up. Was worth having one of the additional shelves and the tripod to mount on. All fits into a small medium sized rucksack and really feel i could carry this anywhere

A beautifully designed and crafted lightweight but robust box for painting in plein air. It’s a delight to look at as well as use. It could do with a padded bag to protect it.

I have a middle sized version but feel that this large version is more suitable for plein air or indoors, offering more space for colour mixing and for fitting larger panels. Made in Buffalo and sent from there via Amazon- great service.

The problem is it shouldn’t have passed quality control. It’s cut thru on the darker softer ply and it’s broken before delivery maybe when magnets fitted as it been lacquered over Jackson’s well there’s a point. They sent it but don’t want to deal with it. Good mind to get credit card to take money back. Let’s see how the deal with it 4 days on and not any further forward.

Its light and compact, but seems to be made for those ready made canvas panels that you can buy, which I don't like. I prefer to use thin plywood, and this easel cannot grip then firmly. Also it uses magnets to hold the easel together, which I'm also not convinced that magnets are suffiently strong to hold up in windy conditions.
