Review "There is much of interest to be found in the book and will prove particularly useful to those working within the primary sector." SNIPThe authors...summarise published research and their own findings in seven schools, and address how adults use language and how to simplify it. This handbook provides a practical, efficient way to develop a fundamental skill. I would have no hesitation in recommending it. (Bulletin, the official magazine of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, July 2010)'This accessible book defines good listening, explains why it is important, offers a clear programme to explicitly teach it, and also the means to clarify with both children and parents what listening is all about. Outcomes exceeded expectations during the preliminary trials done by the authors and I am sure the same would be true in any situation where this advice is followed.' overpriced for the quality and way of information
I wish, I had purchased a second hand copy at much cheaper price. $24.00+ is too much for the content inside.

Every Teacher Should Have a Copy
Unlike the previous reviewer I think this book represents excellent value for money. If there's one thing that's worth its weight in gold to an educator like me, it's insight into how we can make students listen and learn. This book is full of resources, suggestions and explanations that have helped me improve my classes' ability to learn. Colleagues have also expressed great enthusiasm for the '4 listening skills' which they say children have responded to remarkably well. Every page proves that the authors work with children directly and on a daily basis and their passion is evident throughout. Every school should have a copy.
