Exploring Romans (John Phillips Commentary Series) (The John Phillips Commentary Series)

Must have for any serious bible student
This is a book every minister, teacher or even student will find of enormous value. Dr. Phillips’ experience as director at Emmaus and Moody are obvious in this book. Students who prefer the King James Version of the Bible will be attracted to his expository. The exposition is clear, shows enthusiasm and flows as if coming from an instructor teaching his students. A good example is displayed on page 39 under The Principles of the Gospel in which Dr. Phillips writes when referring to the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, “notice the ‘I’, the ‘me’ and the ‘my’ in that speech. Notice also how he refused to be identified as the penitent prodigal’s brother.” This is the quintessential style of Dr. Phillips commentary. He not only provides a useful and informative exegesis, Dr. Phillips provides illustrations throughout to bring points home. From the first chapter and throughout, Dr. Phillips provides a structured outline to exegete Paul’s book to the Roman church. John Phillips leads you through an easier understanding of Romans in a way that does not use ease of understanding at the compromise of scriptural and theological integrity. It is easy to see why this book is required reading for many in divinity school or for those who endeavor to partake of deeper scriptural study.

Great Commentary
I received this fast and it is as stated in the description. My husband used it for a class. It is in great condition and the book is well laid out. It is an in depth study of Romans. It is one in a line of books by Phillips. I suggest this book for anyone reading through the book of Romans. It will help you understand so much more.

Exploring Romans (John Phillips Commentary Series
I rated the book a five star because John Phillips is a man obviously filled with the Spirit of God and has been given great insight in scripture. The book has definitely helped me to a greater understanding of perhaps the greatest book in the New Testament, on the fullness of the gospel of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. I am giving it as a gift for Christmas.Buddy Wilson Weatherford Tx.

The deaf reader/student loves John Phillips commentary series
John Phillips wrote any book that should be fit to the readers that have the King James Version preference. The outlines and expository comments are clear and he is more of fundamental and independent Baptist (I think). I am deaf and teaches at Harvest Deaf Bible College in Ringgold, Georgia with the average of 30 students. Most deaf students prefer Warren Wierbe's commentary series, more simple and leaning toward the Reformed Theology.

Christian commentary
An excellent little commentary. Practical and easy to read. Very useful for teachers and preachers. Seems to 'hit the spot' and avoids being too technical. I think that many Christians would gain much from reading this book.
