FLEXCUT Detail Knife.

I started out with the beavercraft kit since it came with 3 knives and the bag. I ended up buying this flexcut detail knife after a couple months. It's definitely my favorite knife and worth the money, I'd still recommend the beavercraft kit if you're just starting out so you can learn how to strop, whittle, etc on those instead of a nicer knife like this one. Feels good in the hand and sharp right out of the box. Whittling feels super smooth with this :)

Great carving knife

I needed a good detail knife and this one is great. I have several Flexcut knives and I love them and a great price.

I know that several "pro" whittlers use this knife, but I'm just staying out in the hobby. But I decided to give it a shot and it really is a GREAT knife. Actually, as a beginner this is what you should start with so you don't get frustrated with a inferior knife that could injure you.

I'm new to carving and this is my first knife purchase. It did benefit from some stropping after I got it and it cuts well. It seems to hold an edge for a while. The handle is very comfortable. I can carve for two hours and not feel any discomfort. That's pretty good at my age!
